FYI: a bugfix firmware was released to the beta. Also an updated manual !
Bluebox 1.1.2 includes the following bug fixes:
Recording pre-fader would include the track EQ. Now the pre-fader recording taps the signal before the EQ.
The PROJ-B window shows bogus settings
MIDI mappings are not cleared out when you create a new project
The Hours:Minutes:Seconds display does not track the current position when stopped
The Metronome output offers choices that aren’t valid
Check the post here. You probably have to be a forum member to access. The pre-fader recording before EQ is the big one, imo.
I finally started messing around with the ‘start from’ feature on a reference track I uploaded to the SD card. I can see this workflow becoming really convenient!
The small Apple iPhone power adapters cause my BB to powercycle in a loop. The larger iPad ones seem to work just fine.
The most important thing is to check the amps the adapter puts out. Phone chargers, in particular, seem to range around the 1 to 1.5 amps. The BB requires a solid 2 amps.
forgive me if this is a dufus question.
Mentally wiring things up without the Bluebox in front of me can get a bit…tangled!
I’m very likely to pick one up, along with the necessary cables.
So…
In terms of send and return setup (for fx pedals).
Am I right in thinking that if I have a channel send to an output which is then returned to an input, this ouput will be on both channels?
I would want two separate strips of fx to utilise (independently) and wasn’t sure if I could split the output (return) into 2 x mono so that I only need to use 1 input for 2 sets of fx.
Otherwise I need to be thinking in terms of using 2 x inputs for stereo returns.
I suppose stereo return effects are better but I’m just figuring out my options.
Buying cables is my least favourite part of purchasing new kit, but it’s gotta be done.
Put simply: If I want to have 2 sets of sends / returns, do I need to use 2 of the stereo inputs?
I don’t have a bluebox, so take my response with a grain of salt. I think all the ins and outs can be configured however you like. Meaning, if you want your return to be mono, you can do it. I don’t think you’re locked into it being stereo.
If you are okay with the effects being mono which would be totally fine unless it is a stereo effect, then yes, you can use one input for your two returns and they will have an independent channel each on the BB.
Wick, do you still have your bluebox and are you still using it with beebo? If youve used it in an fx loop, do you like the way they work together? And more importantly to me, is the gain staging an issue? I stuggle with finding gain sweet spots with the beebo.
are you using your bluebox with the OT and if so do you have general thoughts (ive read a good portion of this thread but am not pulling together any overarching views)?
if you have the time, would you mind sharing how you use it?
I think i want to use it as an add on to the OT flow and a bit of an additional mixer connected with my SSL SiX. But i havent really thought it through.
Thanks!
EDIT: is bluebox syncing well to external clock and recording upon start of master?
