The other synth drum worth considering that soiunds a bit Microtonic…
I think that deal sold out/ended some time ago.
Oh that sucks.
Everyone seems to be sold out of the Tonic and the price has gone up a lot.
probably not worth it just for drum synthesis but if you already have norns (or either diy variant)…check supertonic
and oilcan
one is a microtonic/po-tonic clone that can load existing tonic presets and also generate new patterns

oilcan is a 2op fm synth inspired by a few drum machines
(akemi’s taiko, tyso daiko, monomachine, nord drum 2, syntakt)
some presets and demo sequences
I’ve never heard anyone talking about the Audio Realism Drum machine but it looks cool and everyone seems to love their 303 plugin.
Just released:
Easy! Just use any modern drum sampler/synth - then tie one hand behind your back, shove cotton wool in one ear, install a 1gb HD from 2001, and disable anything remotely user friendly = you’ll have something pretty close.
Microtonic
Does not look like a fun time, but let me tell you something buddy, it isn’t, its a blast.
BTW this is always the answer when people ask anything regarding drum vsts. Not just here too. I’ve see it constantly mentioned on techno forums, house forums, home owners forums, gear forums, canning forums, cooking forums, production forums, and forum forums.
Shout to Drum Computer as well. It’s cool.
Microtonic is a known force and its rep is justified.
I also just picked up Air Music Drum Synth which does exactly what I was looking for in the original post… and it’s now easy to macro/mod control it from within Ableton.
It’s not without a few quirks (it’d be nice to see GR for the comps, and it misses a master/summing channel), but what it does give is great.
It’s more straight ahead than Microtonic, and is more akin to the Rytm’s engines where it gives you focused parameters based on the specific engine.
Worth grabbing while it’s on sale at the intro price ($39 €39 £39).
I just came back to mention Opal, but I think someone else already did. Just having reviewed it myself, I think it get’s pretty close to what you’re looking for.
