A4 as insert for filter and saturation

Hi, havent done it before but i am very interested in havin my a4 used as an insert on lets say the drumbus. How would be the best way to do that in live? Will latency be recognized and corrected by live or do i have to adjust manually?
Oh and how does it sound when driving it a bit? Nice saturation?
Thanks for helping

Can’t help with Live, I only tried it with Octatrack, A4 MKI, it is really efficient, worth to try it, but I think headroom is limited, high gain isn’t great, it can get muddy. I tried it with drums, and added Ot 's filter overdrive. Possible to mix analog and numerical overdrive.

MKII is maybe better for that purpose ?

I’d like to try an AH for high gain, fuzz, metal scooped…
OTO Boum…still waiting.

Haven’t done this but seems pretty straightforward. Use Ableton’s external audio effect tool on the drum bus, send to the A4 and back to the drum bus. There may be some latency, but I’ve never had issues when using this method with external FX.

Even if headroom is limited on the way in, you should be able to boost the signal enough w/o distortion through the outputs for things to be recorded properly. The A4 was clearly intended to be used as an FX device, I’d be shocked if there wasn’t enough headroom, in the chain beginning to end, to make it usable.

I made some test again with OT and A4 inputs in 2 tracks. More headroom than I thought. Really good results.

I don’t know why I can have muddy overdrive with certains settings inside A4.

I’ll try it with 2x2 LR tracks with different settings for filters, for more Eq control.

Well. The filters and overdrive do kind of have a muddiness to them IMO. Not bad. Just their particular flavor.
