A4 CV clock Out and Recording in Ableton

I am sending clock out of c.v 1 to a drum module on my modular and when i hit record in ableton the A4 starts and then theres a small pause before the drum module kicks in , so when I record it is always off beat due to this pause . Is there anyway to get the clock to start straight without the delay .

Has anyone had any issues with the cv clock out

How are you recording the modular output?

It might be due ableton + sound interface latency. When you use OB the vst will adjust the latency automatically, but this won’t happen for other audio sources I think.

Try monitoring the modular output before it enters the computer and see if the latency is still there. You could also try connecting the modular output to the A4 input. That should make both go in sync.

If you are using other inputs you might need to set the “driver error compensation” setting in ableton so everything fits nicely when recording.

i get weird behavior clocking my modular as well. i’m clocking a trigger riot which is sequencing drum modules. some times it starts a beat late, sometimes, it plays at 1/2 or 1/4 of the correct BPM, and sometimes it doesn’t start the trigger riot at all.

I’m assuming this has something to do with the CV settings in the A4, but there really isn’t alot of info on clock settings in the manual. Does anyone that has this set up properly care to share the proper settings?
