I am quite new to cv and I am having an issue that i need some help wrapping my head around.
When i enter a sequence on my A4 cv track, and send it to subphatty everything is fine. If i then play the keyboard on my subphatty it alters the transpose of my sequence. I don’t know if this is happening on the subphatty or the A4. what is going on?
So far the fix is to hit a C on the subphatty and then a C on the A4 to sort of calibrate them back to the same note.
How can i lock the calibration down once and for all?
it’s transposing after you’ve calibrated? (eg. C2 on A4 matches C2 subphatty?)
The external CV is added to what you play on the SP’s keyboard. That’s totally how this works and always has been working since the early 70s. You have to unthink MIDI and its abstract concepts of combining gate and pitch control (as well as velocity) into a single message.
So basically you need to calibrate the SP set to a specific root note. E.g. the lowest C or whatever works best for your setup. Just be sure to always reset the sub phatty to that root note when sequencing it externally.
Side note: back in the days this was quite handy, as you could transpose sequences on the fly with the built in keyboard.
Makes sense, thanks!
I just have to be more careful with my greasy fingers.
That’s exactly what I tell my kids when they want to make some noise with daddy’s toys…
