A4 Sync issues with Ableton - Driving me nuts

Hi Elektronauts,

I never couldn’t get this working flawlessly.

I have my a4 (and also my MD) connected via midi with ableton.

Everything runs smooth on playback (after some few pushes on midi delay, of course)

The issue is when rendering!

Everything is tight in the playback, when rendering or even recording the master to another audio track…every elektron’s internal sequence gets out of time. I mean, it’s not completely whacked out of tempo…but it’s significant enough to change the whole music dynamic.

Another thing I’ve noticed. If I draw notes in ableton to be played in the a4 (as a basic synthesizer receiving notes), when rendering, they come perfectly fit. Just the internal patterns on the elektron machines (that are perfectly fit in playback mode) go out of tempo when rendering the whole pieces.

What can be wrong here?
I’ve ran out of ideas and don’t really know where to go.
I stopped using a4 sequencer, and recording MD audio in real time due to these issues.

As a soundcard I’m using an RME Fireface 400.
I can’t locate the problem and am getting really frustrated with this
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance

Hi !

Did you try to uncheck delay compensation in Ableton’s options ?

I hope it can help

Hi, not sure if this is any help but are you monitoring through Ableton or externally through a mixer/interface? Could be that there not perfectly in time before rendering but you haven’t noticed until you hear it as audio… I know timing is different when I monitor from abletons master or direct from the mixer.
I only use Ableton to record audio without any internal instruments so not sure if this is relevant.

What are you using as the master clock in this setup? Is Ableton Live functioning as the MIDI master clock, or are you trying to sync Ableton Live to an external master clock?

Can you describe how your MIDI devices are connected to your computer?
