Let’s just wait till they release the overbridge. I hope it will solve the latency problem on ableton.
Plus ableton is releasing the version 9.2 latest update which probably will fix most of the latency issues
in ableton.
Oki
…fix most latency issues in Ableton.
@Omidian : What’s the problem? Could you give a bit more detail about your issue? How are things connected etc?
@Oki: What are they planning to do?
I’m not entirely sure either what “latency problems in Ableton” oki is referring to…perhaps something is getting lost in translation
@omidan: to better understand the problem, some more information would be helpful.
What kind of audio interface are you using? What is the buffer size set to? Is the audio from the A4 being fed into the interface? or a separate external hardware mixer? Is the A4 being triggered by midi clips in Ableton or patterns on the A4?
I’m using an A4 in a hardware setup (sometimes) in conjunction with Ableton and I can’t say that I’m having any issues with latency (not beyond the typical latencies you encounter when not using “zero latency” thunderbolt interfaces or similar anyways). I try to keep my latency as low as possible, but with a Focusrite 6i6 connected to an i7 laptop running win8.1 under Ableton 9.1.7 x64, my projects typically start out at a 128 frame buffer and when that becomes unstable bump it up to 256 frames (neither of which is anything to write home about
An important thing to consider is accounting for this latency in your midi settings. I use the values from the audio settings as a general guide as follows:
10ms output latency -
I think I’m not making this more complicated than it needs to be, but this is the setup that works for me and hope is some help to you.
Hey d.m.turner,your description helped me a lot. Thx!
