Addictive Drums 2

Any users of Addictive Drums 2 here?

So I just grabbed one of their bundles on sale. It’s been on my radar since watching Barry Beats excellent Fake Break series (highly recommended).

I’m just wondering what kits people like as I haven’t chosen all of mine yet.

My bundle lets you choose six kits and so far I have chosen:

Vintage Dry
Funk
Modern Jazz Sticks
Session Percussion

I’m going for that old school breaks kind of a vibe, and I need to choose two more kits.

I’m leaning towards Blue Oyster and Black Oyster since the presets at least sound quite old school.

The others I’m considering are Fairfax 1 & 2 and the Modern Soul R&B kit.

I’d love to hear other people’s opinions, including about kit add-ons, since I haven’t chosen any of those yet (and I can choose six with my bundle).

For reference, here’s a track I did for a weekly beat battle project a few weeks back that shows the kind of vibe I’ve been on lately (this is Abbey Roads 70’s drums), although I also like to do old school dub reggae and 90s boom bap and drum and bass tracks too.

Here’s a dub track I did a while back on the Digitakt for reference as well.

Personally I like the Fairfax sets

Just curious if that’s based on the drum sounds themselves or the quality of the recording?

not sure what you’re asking exactly  It’s been a while since I used AD2 a lot, I just remember enjoying the sound and playability of the Fairfax sets, is all  AD2 has its own sound I find, all packs have that particular sound in common. Hard to describe though. The quality of recording (especially for the small GB footprint) is very good with all of their addons I’d say.

Should add, I only finger drum, no e-drum set and not a drummer either

Thanks for the info! Much appreciated.

I just meant do you prefer the style/timbre of the drums or do you find that the Fairfax seem to be better quality samples/recordings than the other ones.

My guess is that the Fairfax might have been recorded better than the Oyster kits, but I do like the style of the demos I’ve heard of the Blue Oyster which reminds me a bit of the DJ Shadow Endtroducing drums.
