Thank you all for this thread. I have so much new music to listen to
ghostcode, I’ve never been able to locate any other releases by this artist or find any other sign of their existence, but if you love Analord era AFX then you will find this artist absolutely sublime. Also reminiscent of RX101. But yeah, this artist is a real enigma and a real diamond in the rough. (Yay finally have an excuse to publicly gush about them!)
Also thidiot really reminds me of the hyper funky aspects of AFX. Another brilliant artist imho.
Also this:
Margaret Fart Particle… just listen to it
Jessica Walrus, reminds me of the strange/unsettling aspects of AFX. Awesome music that is somehow simultaneously humorous and sweet and yet disquieting, like an unstable comedian who you thoroughly enjoy even tho they seem unhinged and may blow your brains out.
It feels good
Brainrave is going on right now
Love this EP by Heorge Garrison
Afx with a spoon of squarepusher.
Didn’t notice Automatic Tasty but this one make me this of Aphex.
Also Global Goon is a rephlex artist I enjoy and didn’t notice up above as well.
Damn, I’ve been reading the whole topic while holding my phone with Spotify open, subscribing to some that I didn’t know, and wow, these artists have so few listeners, I’m shocked. What a world.
Sounds about right
If I had to analyze those statistical findings I would venture to say that IDM and related music requires a sort of transcendent headspace to actually enjoy it, like enjoying music just for the sake of music itself, because it lacks the usual easily consumable emotional “substance” so present in “normal” music. 🤷 also IDM can really get stuck up it’s own ass with one-uping and machismo (as recently stated by Mr. Bogdan himself), sort of like the daw/tracker editing version of a wanker guitar solo, and often feels like music for musicians rather than “the general public” …
That’s my guess
