So I just picked up a used Analog 4 and hooked it up to my Shared System for the first time…
H O L Y - M O T H E R - O F - G O D.
This is the first time I use its CV capabilities and its just opened up a whole new level of awesomeness. For starters, A4’s are simply mispriced in the used market… £700? Really? i admit i didnt quite gel with the keys the first time around, nor with the A4 the second time… in both instances i loved the FX but couldnt justify keeping just for that especially as I was already long an OT and MD UW+…
However… however… If you have a modular synth, even if its a semi modular or basic one VCO, you NEED to get yourself an A4. Parameter locking on the sequencer after tuning the makenoise DPO was a jaw dropping experience…
Got mine on sleezybay for a touch under £700 in mint condition… say what?! I love Rene and PressurePoints… but using an Elektron sequencer when you are used to this workflow is heaven.
I love p-locking the CV ENVs.
So many p-locks on one single CV output!
Also, I’d love to find a dedicated and flexible digital OSC module with CV input that also responds to MIDI program change from the A4, as a way to be able to recall waveforms when switching patterns on the A4… turning it into a Hybrid synth that uses its own internal memories to recall external OSC settings.
No because there is no Midi/CV converter on the Shared System and I have no space after adding Tempi and Brains.
I am sure its the same/better but in my setup the modular has only ever received clock sync via the MDs Gnd machine on a seperate output or the OTs Cue output…
Also, the OT has 8 midi channels and they are mainly used up by other gear. I have never used the MDs midi sequencer.
This sounds very interesting… i havent even used the ENVs yet. I spent 45 mins reading and figuring out how to set it up and tune the hard to tame DPO…
