Yeah I feel like audio wise A4 shined in a few places for me, sort of fuzzy dreamy mono patches or the single voice stabs. There is an english horn patch that I had a soft spot for also, very dungeon synthy the way the filters tracked it slightly differently across the key range made it really interesting. Oddly I also sold my Pro 2 due to space issues in my new place so Syntrx is really my mono synth now. I got the Spectralis incoming from my trade, which should be interesting to try… seems more convoluted in many ways but also has some pretty unique options because of it.
I found this too. Many of the string-like pads I got out of it sounded like they were coming from their own room or something. Very unique.
The A4 is SO good at drums.
It had a very WIDE drum pallet, and they all seem to sit perfectly in the mix.
It’s what i use it for 90% of the time, and I’ve not really felt the need to get another analogue drum machine since.
I LOVE my RYTM, and I traded my A4 for an AK.
Occasionally I think about getting a Tempest again, but I dont like most of the Tempest’s faults.
Now I’m definitely considering an A4 at some point while prices are low.
I dont want to use it right away in my rig, I wanna sit with it alone on the couch or in bed and see if I can just make wicket beats on it, using the Perf macros to completely morph into various sounds.
THEN maybe I’ll plug it into everything else, OR just sample all of it into the OT, OR maybe finally use the inputs on my RYTM.
Really depends on what you like it for: As mentioned already try it as an analog drum synth if melodic work doesn’t hook you. I feel i might enjoy those uses more these days when i can have the patience to properly program and modulate patches.
