Analog Keys - The Issue Thread

For all those who have their AK’s at the ready…shoot…

Going to buy one and want to know what pitfalls, niggles and issues users have hit so far, just in case

None.

My bigest issue is that I dont have one.

Too early to ask I guess?

A simple thing I was thinking about was the over hanging keys?
Buttons, how do they feel plastic and clicky/rubber and smooth etc?
Any bugs or glitches in the firmware to date?
Audio routing?
anything else

I’ll going to buy one, just curious if there’s anything to be aware of, nothing is perfect yet I realise somethings are subjective.

Er… do you want to buy mine?

the keyboard is “absolutely phenomenal”, totally flawless (the buttons are a little clicky as usually the elektron buttons, but it’s a thing i love), I purchased it 3/4 weeks ago.
Now: my studio is full of keyboards, and gettin’ the room for another one is a pain in the a##, and the Overbridge thing just destroyed the only matter for me to prefer AK instead of A4 (the separate outs thing), so now I’m dreaming a downgrade to A4
I think it will be hard to find out any issue, and I don’t say this to sell the keyboard, it’s fantastic and I’don’t give a heck if I won’t sell it (I could simply buy another A4 for the studio and play the sh"% out of the keyboard in my bedroom, but I’m planning to get an octatrack too and, dude, I’m not SO rich)

Sorry if I got out of thread

the screen is a bit small but the controls are so intuitive it doesnt really matter

honestly thats it, its a dream machine

I’ve noticed two things. I’ve got a little dust thing under the screen (but don’t notice it at all when programming,) and I can’t tell if my unit is actually wobbly or if it’s just very sensitive to how level a surface is. One of the feet does not make contact on most of my surfaces. Honestly it’s so great I don’t even care (and a thin bit of something under the foot takes care of the wobble.)

can confirm mine does not do this, sounds like one of the rubber feet is short. Bet elektron would just send you some feet

Ah yea that would be cool if it was as simple as that, I’ll see what they say.

Anyone know where one might find rubber feet in general? My TM-1 is missing a little rubber foot. I don’t want to have something that minimal shipped all the way from Sweden…

Although a bit ghetto… I replaced my OT rubber stoppers with these clear ones meant to be for furniture. Bought at Home Depot

They worked just fine and I didn’t have to go through the process of getting them from Elektron.

Great, I tried Radio Scrap, and some other electronics stores…never thought of Home Depot, and there’s one a 10 minute walk from me! Me go find me some ghetto rubber footsies this weekend. :+1:

I haven’t noticed any dust under my screen, but my unit is also wobbly on a level surface and in my case there is a significant gap under the front left rubber foot.

People seriously need to let support know that it’s something other than one foot support shorter because it could easily be a quality control issue, and just about any first run/low serial numbers, will have these birthing pains until they are caught and corrected. That means it’s caught by the end-user.
Sounding like a warping of some models slightly.
I am suspecting the choice of not designing the keyboard with a support section under keys that also acts as a protector, dust protector, and coupled with being made of reportedly, aluminum–mix that with shipping, anything could happen. That’s my concern with the lack of under key support/protection–roadies are sometimes akin to gorillas.

I’ve already filed a support ticket.

Mines the same, left side under the joystick area.
I mentioned it to Jon @ elektron and will send to support tonight. Let’s see what they say.

Edit: after taking a look tonight I do think it might be the case. Best I can tell if I stick my unfolded wallet under the case on the left it easily fits under, if I do it to the right side it’s a tight fit.

Does anyone feel the difference between lit and half-lit LEDs on the 16 trig buttons is hard to spot?

yes, like when switching patterns, and the pattern length switching lights are the ones that bug me the most. Interestingly enough there seems to be another brightness mode, like when you enter the poly menu and turn on and off voices, it looks like maybe a 10% brightness. To me something like this would be better all around, and I’m sure it can maybe be tweaked in an OS update?

+1
or preferably a simple next pattern function like a decent live machine should have. Or could there be a workaround using chains and infinite pattern loops?

Some nice niggle factors. The keyboard bed does conern me as exposed, but as home studio use not a major concern, just need to be aware I guess.

Dust under the screen shouldn’t happen, not for a long while at least. Got a 4 year old TI and still squeeky clean., maybe a fitting issue in production?

Feet yep I got some spare plastic feet for my virus and Maschine, two different sizer just to raise then a little and tune cans work trumps, for an extra lift. No fish in this post huh ^^

Concerning to hear about the case. Saying that the local retailer I source from does a no quibble exhange or refund, so rubber gloves for an inspection when it arrives…2 weeks or less, maybe!!!

Seperate outs on AK with the overbridge, is that correct and input as well?
