Analog Rytm First Setup - what else do I need?

My Rytm arrived today and I am wondering about how to connect it - I am totally new to hardware and I want to be 100% sure that any extra cables I need to go and get are correct for using the Rytm and my Macbook.

I am using two powered monitors and would like to be able to record the Rytm with Overbridge and Logic Pro X.

Do I need an audio interface? What kind of cables do I need? Some help would be appreciated!

With your mentioned setup i would grab a pair of good TS 1/4" cables to connect your rytm outputs to the monitors. I would then stay away from the computer for a while as theres so much new territory to explore in that little black box!
You can easily record all your tracks separately into overbridge using the usb connnection. No audio interface needed, you can even use the rytm as your soundcard! Crack open the manual and take things step by step, it’s a wild ride.

Thanks a lot that sounds like perfect advice  I can’t wait to get stuck into this thing, I’ve been waiting on one for a long time!

Another quick question - Stereo or Mono cables? And do you have a particular brand which you use/would recommend?

After a quick search online it looks like these (http://www.gear4music.com/G4M/XLR-M-Balanced-1-4Inch-Jack-Pro-Cable-3m/8KZ) are the standard, but sure that the quality isn’t that great.

dont worry about cable quality, especially with balanced cables. It’ll be fine. Cable quality is among the last things to worry about when making music (playing gigs is another thing tho since there you want a reliable build)

check cuckoos youtube vids, be patient and have fun dude!

mono cables for mono outputs is the general rule (on any device). If it’s a single stereo output jack then you use a stereo cable.

that general type of cable TRS to XLR (balanced) is the correct one. So if your Rytm is connected to the monitors directly, maybe you’ll also want to pick up a cable like this: http://www.rubbermonkey.co.nz/Cables-Connectors/Audio-Cables/Mini-jack-Cables/Proel-DH560-Die-Hard-Series-3-5mm-TRS-to-6-5mm-TRS-Audio-Cable-1-8m

one end goes into Rytm stereo input, the other end can be computer, phone etc for listening to music and such things. You can use the Rytm’s compressor on that input as well.

(Maybe you can use Overbridge for that but dunno/haven’t tried tbh)
