Anyone attending Mutek MTL?

I’ve never been, but it looks hella fun. Heading to Montréal now.

I won festival passes last year but the correspondence went to my fb junk folder and I did not see it until after it was over. :astonished:

Sadly, no, although it’s close by. I’ve been many times in the past, but not in the past few years.

I recommend Burnt Friedman, Flanger, et al, and Blue Hawaii in this year’s line-up

Thanks for the recommendations, at a festival like this it’s much appreciated!

Go see everything you physically can. In the past I saw amazing shows by Eleh and Nils Frahm, for example, without ever having heard of them before.

Going to see tim Hecker and Lorenzo Senni at the Nocturne 2 on second of june.

Reports, please!

What a cool festival!! I’m from the west coast of Canada, where there simply isn’t anything like this (I don’t even know if Seattle festivals are a match), so it was quite a lot to take in.
I took your advice and went to see as much as I could. I didn’t miss out on much (though Piknik was cancelled, and I didn’t get on the list for Boilerroom event), except for the really late night programming after say, 3am. That many late nights in a row is tough!
For me, the highlights were Siete Catorce, Magnanime, Lee Gamble+Dave Gaskarth, Moritz v Oswald, Burnt Friedman was cool (he’s the only one that played in the middle of the room with quadraphonic speaker setup and the friday crowd was loose!), Tim Hecker, I caught a bit of Lorenzo Senni and it was pretty wild, Lakker, Dasha Rush  (most of the RBMA acts @ metropolis that I saw were awesome), White Visitation, Powell, Terekke, Maayan Nidam+Julia König, plus the daytime stuff was good too… But the real standout for me was Herman Kolgen’s Seismik performance. He’s just on another level compared to most of the program. Check out his vimeo for a preview of Seismik. It was so coolly digital but still totally visceral. Safe to say everyone in the room was feeling pretty fortunate afterwards! He has lots of custom gear and wields it like some kind of wizard.
I did spot a few Octatracks! And I think one Rytm, but I couldn’t see for sure. There was probably a lot more Elektron gear but just not that I saw.
I would definitely travel to see this again!! It was pretty impressive. This city is pretty impressive too, I’m dreading returning to Vancouver where all the cafes play jack johnson n shit.
