I’m trying to send notes from the OT to a synth on channel 2. A direct midi connection works. Now I want to send midi from the OT to the A4 and the other synth. Should be easy, but I get zero notes on the other synth. I can play the A4 from the OT fine. My settings on the A4:
Turbo: off
Out: midi
thru: midi
input from: usb+midi
output to: usb+midi
output ch: auto
I have the midi out of the OT sent to midi in on a4, and the other synth is plugged in the thru port of the A4, connected to the midi in port of the synth. Any suggestions?
there ain’t no notes coming out of the A4, neither directly, nor thru, that’s what they set it up to be it seems ! do your midi thru externally or put the A4 last (if u can)
My setup works exactly like yours. Octatrack sends midi to the A4, then the midi goes through the A4 thru-port to my Ambika. Absolutely no problems whatsoever.
i was having the same problem. i tried using thru to the Blofeld. Ot-out>>> A4-in>>>>>A4-thru>>>>Blofeld-in. blofeld wasn’t getting any MIDI. ended up buying a MIDI Solutions 1 in 4 out box. 50$ definitely worth the money.
i also had thru working. midi from soundcard (not usb) into THRU and mpc on the OUT. Turned off note IN on a4 and it didn’t catch any notes, but mpc did.
I’m having the same trouble. Tried everything I can think of but still can’t get the midi thru to work. I’m trying to send midi from Ableton, through the keys or rytm into my downstream midi synths (Juno 106 roland and cs1x Yamaha).
I have ableton (triggered by push as the key player), sending midi out to elektron keys or elektron rytm, then midi thru from either of these into my Roland Juno 106, or Yamaha CS1x.
I can get the keys to receive and play the notes via USB midi in (when i say accept note data, so i know the signal is there and the cable is working), but can’t get the midi message past the keys via thru into the Juno or Yamaha. I’ve tried sending out from ableton on a channel that is not used by any of the keys or rytm tracks (e.g. 14) and having the thru going to midi in of the external synths, but still nothing. I’ve tested the midi signal from the keys to the juno / yamaha by choosing the midi-ext button and the key presses send data, so again, this confirms the functionality of the cables and the ability to receive signal…
Anyone experienced and/or solved a similar problem?
I want clock and transport thru A4, but this does not happen.
In the manual it is said (page 5): ”The MIDI THRU port duplicates the data arriving at the MIDI IN port…”
Clearly this is not working.
I have tried all kinds of settings of THRU PORT FUNCTIONALITY (page 47). It could maybe to understood to be a filtering function between IN and THRU, but the manual does not say so explicitly.
I just want to let you know that I recently talked to a number of people from Elektron at Norbergfestival. Both support and development. None of them could explain to me why this was not working. We set up the machines in the same order that I try to use at home, but had no problem at all with the machines available.
As a result of this my A4 is now a case for support service and I will send it in as soon as I can.
