Currently have my A4 sync’d to my MPC Keys, and have a track set up on the MPC for auto channel to the A4. Thinking I will run midi thru to the OT and put that on a different auto channel, and then route it’s midi and audio back into the MPC.
The goal is to utilize the OT step sequencer (with autochannel input from the MPC) to step sequence the MPC, as well as utilize the awesome OT arp, within the MPC.
I’d also like to capture Loops from my MPC to do some occasional OT style mangling.
Anyone worked like this?
I do all my sequencing on an MPC2000xl with the Octatrack as the master clock and live looper/sampler/etc (rarely touch the MIDI side of it these days), it works great and I feel like Octatrack+any MPC is a really good pairing. I don’t use MIDI loopback at all, though.
I’d recommend using the Octatrack as the master clock rather than the MPC, otherwise that sounds like it should workas long as you’re careful about MIDI feedback, the way you have stuff routed sounds like it would be pretty susceptible to that. Between the OT and the MPC you should be able to filter out the stuff you need to.
