i’d like to tweak my OT from a bitstream 3x.
i need to see what i tweak …
so … moving from one track to the other - between audio and midi modes - and trough the 5 setup pages is a real need for an external midi controller.
so … has anyone found the sysex codes :
1 : to flip between the audio and midi modes of the OT ?
2 : to choose a track between 1 to 8 ?
3 : to walk trough the 5 setup pages ?
novation team has been working on it with the new firmware of the launch control xl so maybe they know …
thanks for your time … “folks” … he said it i didn’t
I rather think that the Novation controller in that video is simply using MIDI CC messages, not SysEx, to control the Octatrack. You can easily do the same and more using the Bitstream 3X.
The Octatrack’s SysEx implementation is not publicly documented. Some intrepid developers may have studied it. I’ve not heard of any SysEx messages that replicate button pushes in the way that you wish.
Note that you can use MIDI note messages on the OT’s Auto Channel to change the current active track.

so i must untick the cc direct connect
my midi out of the OT drives a nord g2
the incomming midi datas of the auto channel are sent to the midi out
it will send both datas from the midi tracks and from the auto channel incommings ?
so what is the cc direct connect for ?

i know … the arp - motion - lfo - xy axis - crossfader and ribbon functions are killers
thanks for your help man !!! i’ll try the auto channel then
The ‘CC DIRECT CONNECT’ setting, when activated, helps in the kind of set-up where a MIDI controller controls an external synth that is connected to the OT’s MIDI Out port. When the setting is disactivated, the MIDI controller can control more of the CC message data that is recorded on the OT’s MIDI sequencer itself.
This is fully explained on pages 38 and 112-113 of the OT’s manual, with an example given on page 128-130 of how a synth’s knobs can be fully utilised using this setting (you could use your Nord Modular G2 like this and maybe not even need the Bitstream 3X).

i spent the night on both french and english manuals
both are giving me headackes … it’s like those sci-fi books i used to read as kid from one page to an other … a true maze !!!
but i’ll keep diving into it

i still didin’t figure out the purpose of it in my setup

actualy i use the bitstream only to tweak the OT
and the midi tracks of the OT to tweak my g2
but i’m thinking …
the cc direct connect would be usefull when i want to tweak the 2 midi CTRL pages from the bitstream trough the OT to the g2 … No ? Paying attention of the midi conflicts of course
Elektron’s example on pages 128-130 of using CC DIRECT CONNECT may not be very suitable for you because you are using the B3X instead of the NMG2’s knobs to record MIDI messages into the OT’s sequencer.
I think that for your set-up (controller -> OT -> synth) you will find it easier to make controller templates with CC DIRECT CONNECT deactivated, so that you can keep the same CC numbers on the controller controlling anything you set up on the synth and just set the B3X’s controls to use the same channel as the Auto Channel on the OT.
yeh that’s what i thaught actualy
so we can think the cc direct connect as a kind of midi thru then
i’ll try few settings to see … ah well … electronic …
thanks anyway
