I’m going to drop this free MIDI chord detector here, seems relevant and useful for some.
Now that I finally got my OT I wanted to try Barkers Midi Files… but there are “only” 63 midi chords in each file not 64. Why?
Should be eight chords in total per bank, with eight inversions each, totalling 64 chords. Which ones have you opened?
That tiny sliver on the first C2 looks like something has gone wrong doesn’t it? I think I saved these ages ago, will see if I can find them and if so, wil check if they’re different.
Much appreciated!
I found the same thing when I used them. Think I ended up importing each file into Ableton and edited them.
This video is motivates me to stop being lazy, stop sticking to the presets and start messing with the parameters of the Nord Drum. With the DT, I can start right away by assigning 8 different CC mesages to the midi sequencer. Now let’s do it.
EDIT : The variety of sounds you can dial just by using 8 carefully selected parameters is amazing.
Using the single knob for the final tweak is not a problem.
Yep, they’re the same for me. I went into them and edited the lost notes in the sequences.
Thanks a lot for checking! Would you mind to share your edited files?
I had a dig through my library (sorry for the delay) and I found what I believe are my altered versions of Barker’s MIDI chord chains, as well as one I put together myself. They’re only in C and F, however with some tweaking you can achieve any chord in any key. And if you’re using this like Barker does, you can simply re-pitch the samples to achieve your desired chord.
Chord Chain C.mid (2.1 KB)
Chord Chain F.mid (2.1 KB)
Cm9 C2-C#4.mid (2.6 KB)
Thank you!!
My pleasure - let me know if you have any issues. I made those when I was massively into this Barker chord chain thingy, doubt I could replicate it now haha.
Ho ho, nice thread.
I never, no never, though to have a midi track (or more, one per scales maybe ) on my OT with the chords i prefer
In fact, i barely use OT with chords, because i never thought about it too.
I will make that with kordbot, cause i don’t know nothing to chords, but my ears tell me what i fond good
Thanks for the very good tips i will use immediatly
Bumping cause I found this today by searching for “octatrack chains” and it’s incredible. Also, it’s back up after having been down:
Lovely stuff!
