Behringer RD-8

Missing stated release times has got to be pretty disappointing to people excited to buy a product.
I don’t think anyone will contest to Behringer selling a shit-tonne of synths, but considering any discussion of Behringer comes with the strong possibility of a locked thread, I would say they’ve definitely got room for improvement in the PR department,

I agree that they need to improve on how they communicate release dates to people, I see people online frustrated with the way that’s handled. It’s not harming their ability to move synths though.

someone has to mention that the Behringer Synth era has nothing to do with crappy distortion FX from 2005.
this stuff is top notch!! quality- and soundwise. you won‘t find bad reviews and the negative position comes from people who had never a Boog or Neutron etc. on the Desk. talking 3 year warranty for a product this cheap in price.

“808 Mark 2” might be appropriate with all the additions it has.

Yeah removing the (air) quotes will cost you over 5000$ !!!

Will there be RD-8 flip-flops? :athletic_shoe:

well… if you’re only going to buy the most expensive 808 available, then yes. but you can get one for closer to 4k. actually less if you don’t shop exclusively on eBay, Reverb, ToneTweakers, etc.

but yeah, it’s silly money. still, I know which one I’d buy first.

$4k? That’s a steal! … grab 2! Oh right you can’t. Well you can get 2 RD-8s for a fraction of that.
Edit: sounds like I’m writing a commercial lol

The RD-8 wont kill your GAS for the 808 clave though. But I’m not going to sell all my elektrons just for that clave :diddly: I’ll use a sample and pray the 808 clave police wont notice

Someone should design an analog 808 clone with a sequencer that can easily sequence melodically pitched kicks and snares imo.

This one supposedly supports chromatic playing of the kick drum. However I’m not sure how this is actually programmed into the sequencer? At the very least it should be doable via ext MIDI

I plan to be sequencing mine with the OT, unless the accents are unavailable via ext MIDI control.

Yeah, you could probably do something similar with the TR-8s too, but it’d be nice to just jam on the sequencer in chromatic mode with the pads like on a RYTM or MPC without needing to hook up additional controllers.

Having to use a knob to adjust the tuning, when doing something chromatic, can be a real workflow killer as well imo.

I seem to recall it being mentioned that kick drum will accept MIDI notes for the pitches. if this is indeed the case you will be able to use MPC pads.

Love the Hanging on a String beat, uber classic

And a teaser for the K2, huh?

Cool vid. Dug the parallel compression…Every compressor should just be default have a mix knob imo

since we are posting videos, someone on GS already got an RD-8

EDIT: Another sound demo from the same poster (2 files, one with just the RD8)

Sounds pretty legit to me ears (aside from the clave, that is)

Well they have : Roland brought out the TR-8S. Oh - “analog(ue)” you say ? Ahh. thing is… *it makes absolutely no difference at all in any meaningful, discernable way in making actual music".
