What’s some good options. My original launchpad buttons are starting to become unresponsive. Iv just got a RYTM MKii and can already feel the pads are hard work. Not to fused about knobs or anything. Just looking for the best drum pads to plug play and bash on. ( something that comes with samples would be a plus )
Mpc vibes seem good? Don’t think launchpad would be the best with all the extra pads.
Not sure if a Nord drum 3 for using with drum sticks ( long time drummer ) would be cool because of its own sound engine mangling options is an over kill. Probs best to just stick with a similar size drum pad to finger drum on…
For what it’s worth, the pads soften up as you use them, and you have a sample per track with the Rytm anyways… of course if you want MPC pads, then an MPC is the answer.
Learn the 26 drum rudiments up and down the pads. When you have learned all 26, and can play them both ways, boom, those pads will be nicely broken in.
the nord drum2 pads are disconnected from the main sound engine so you wouldn’t have that drum3 issue.
worth noting if you overlooked that option.
me personally this issue with the pads always gets contemplated when i get the itch to buy one.
spending that much money for the device itself, you shouldn’t have to throw more money onto that just to make it up too par.
also taking up more unnecessary real-estate (w/ an extra device for pads only) and we all know how valuable studio real-estate can be.
I got an open box one for less, and still they’re tuff af but i didn’t know the buttons don’t move ( from what I’m used to with the launchpad )
Maybe il just have to take it easy on it.
About 3 hrs in on YouTube looking at options. Tho there isn’t many paring videos with it unfortunately.
you can use almost any pad controller with din midi out… there are for example the akai controllers like mpd 226 they would give you a similar feel to an mpc…
also beatstep controllers comes to mind…
edit: you can check in the rytm manual midi section, which notes/cc messages the pad controler has to be able to send to the rytm…and look up in the manual of the desired controller, if it can send them
also with a lanchpad pro custom mode you could have the pad triggers and mutes and scenes and maybe even the perf pads on one page/surface at the same time…
I think Korg padkontrol is an awesome controller. I’m not a finger drummer so I don’t know of the pads are good or not. But if you assign each pad to each track on the Rytm and use the XY tracking pad for midi CC say filter freq and res then the XY pad will send out on whatever pad you want, meaning that you can set which tracks you want to affect.
It’s really cool I used it a lot with my OP-Z and use the XY pad for sample reverse and pitch, which led to some really cool results.
Basically it’s a control all XY pad but only for a set of two CC’s per bank.
Only factory samples - but they’re quality - e.g. velocity responsive 808 is ace when drummed by the right hands. My drummer friend /accomplice much prefers these pads to the Nord Drum 3 pads. You also get several sequencer lanes for CCs.
There’s a guy selling the Octapad v2 on a stand with a mesh snare and a kick drum with a pedal for $950…
But none of my own samples hurts.
But could just sample it into the rytm…
Plus it’s kits got upgraded from 50>99…
You just got the Rytm, use it more to see if you even like it before dropping another grand.
yeah the pads are kool but defs not used to it. still going to get a drumming style pad next instead like the spd sx se or nord drum.,.
