Hi, I’m just starting out in this world; I’m starting to control the Digitakt quite a bit already, but I’ve been given a poket piano (by critter&guitari) and I don’t really understand how to use it.
The thing is that I don’t have monitors, and I work with headphones.
Is there any way I can listen to the digi and the poket piano at the same time?At the moment I’ve managed to manage the Poket from the Digi, with its clock send and everything quite well, but the poket sounds through its own speaker (3W, a shitty speaker).
I’d love to be able to record a session using Overbridge, but it’s quite complicated to get into the mood if you don’t hear both elements from the headphones. If I take off the headphones, anyway, the Digi sounds on my computer via Overbridge, but the Poket Piano sounds independently through its speaker.
Thank you very much.
the digitakt has an audio input. if you send the audio output of the pocket piano to the digitakt audio input, you can monitor (means hearing) and also sample the pocket piano via the digitakt (audio out, which is the same signal as headphone out)
lool at the devices or in the manual, to find out, which audio cable you need
You can just monitor the pocket piano through the Digitakt. It sums to mono so just be aware of that. Should just be a 1/8 to 3/4” audio cable if the pocket piano is what I’m thinking it is. Best you can do without a small mixer or another device like the Digitone which can do stereo input and has master effects. But you’ll want a mixer anyways. Don’t cheap out and try to do audio splitters and junk like that. There are small mixers like The Dude.
Okay, thank you very much guys!!
One more question:
If I bought a mixer like The Dude, could I still connect the mixer to the computer and use Overbridge-Digitakt?
Overbridge would be audio and midi over the usb cable but yeah plug anything else you need or want into the mixer and just have fun jamming the dude mixer was just the first one that came to mind there are a good variety of small ones out there. Some retailers have 30 day return policy too so if you just don’t love it you can return and get something else. Ricky Tinez on YouTube did a review on that particular mixer and seemed to like it. Check it out. Ah dang, you mentioned not having monitors so double check that the mixer you get has dedicated headphone out.
I have a little Yamaha mixer that has some built in digital effects. They aren’t the best but they are fun to play with sometimes and get the job done. I’d recommend getting the hang of audio with the gear the cables and a mixer first before diving headfirst info Overbridge AND a mixer at the same time. But before you know though you’ll be wizzing around trying different combinations of connectivity and trying to sing metal lyrics through a box fan into your iPhone mic to mangle even more on the Digitakt
Okay, thanks a million! I saw Ricky’s video, but I’ll do a little more research to make sure I buy something that fits what I want. I’ll dedicate a metal beat to you when I’m famous. Greetings
Haha yuuuuuuusssssss!!! Have fun my friend!!
