Cheap Pedals or Multi Effects Unit

Hi

I’m starting my dawless journey and I have a octatrack mk2 and I’m looking for some cheap Pedals or one multi effects unit??

What do u guys recommend as I don’t have a clue what’s good and what’s not

I’m into making Techno Acid Melodic stuff

Many thanks

There are several cheap pedals built into the OT

But seriously, use those until you know exactly which ones don’t work for you then buy stuff to fill those gaps. Reason being is that you have WAY more control over the effects in the OT, besides the fact that you don’t need to buy a new thing.

I’d buy a behringer 303 if you want to do acid techno well. Only the original circuitry or a dedicated clone will do that sound correctly IMO.

If you insist on a pedal I’d get a delay. Digitech obscura is on my list as a cheap delay. I’ve seen them around $110 on Reverb used. Or a reverb but I don’t know any cheap ones that are better than the OT’s.

What effects in the Octatrack don’t you like? The Dark Reverb seems 50-50 split between lovers and haters. I’m a lover but whatever. Similar deal with the filters.

This Zoom multieffects has a lot of fans. The cost of one of these is less than some Boss reverb or delay pedals.

I can vouch for the Line 6 HX Stomp multi-effects, though the HX line costs more than the above Zoom, yet not as much as the Helix.

Korg NTS-1 is worth a look, it’ll give you something to sample into the OT as well.

I have one and think the effects are probably a bit overrated in some reviews, but pound for pound don’t think there’s anything more versatile for the money

Mooer make dirty cheap but surprisingly good FX.

I’m using the Mod duo x together with an analog rytm, and it’s a pretty sweet setup for me for techno and house. It’s not particularly cheap though but super versatile. You can get the Mod dwarf much cheaper and it’s basically the same thing with less buttons and knobs. But probably with the octatrack you will not need more than that

As others have hinted, use the OT’s internal effects until you figure out what (if anything) you need.

I would have said this had I thought of it. Internal first is still my main recommendation though.
