Ahh , then we should move this to the game recommendation thread
Yes, HERO is really good I think! I have it on the Atari2600 too, limited GFX but the games feel a bit smoother on that. Still, C64 has that sound and the Kraktros!!!
Favourite C64 games, which i still play:
Outrun
Ninja (not last ninja)
Krakout (Oh man, this one is crazy cool, many different levels of it too)
BOULDERDASH (WHAT A SOUNDTRACK!!!)
Giana Sisters (Yea, up yours mario)
RIVER RAID!!! (Needs a remake NOW)
Zaxxon
IK+
I think the best game I made was alien storm for c64.
And some terrible ones.
Iām 12 hours in to the new FFVII remake on PS4ā¦
It is awesome!!
Itās sucked me in more than any game in years, the attention to detail in the world is incredible and the combat is great. They have added heaps to the game too.
At 12 hours, Iāve just arrived at Aeriths house for the first time. I think thatās about 2 or 3 hours into the original game.
It does look great! Itās the only Final Fantasy I ever played. I never beat it. Got as far as the large Casino city and then my high school life got in the way. I may try and replay this.
I did just pick up Dead Cells and having a lot of fun with it! Into the Breach is great also for a strategy game, like Chess combined with Pacific Rim.
Badland on android- excellent mention!!
Truly a modern platform classic
@avantronica
Thanks for this. A very well spent 12quid. Iām not a massive gamer but this is really engrossing and can get pretty āquantum!ā
The littālun loves leading vast herds of rocks around. Thoroughly enjoying it.
This.
Itās a rhythm based video game that sorta plays like guitar hero but with a main character who walks around with a cool hood and is made of wood?
Some of the tunes were catchy. I am going play this when itās released
Iām playing the new update for The Long Dark- Winterās Embrace. Itās brutal.
But I just had to comment about the sound design, specifically the electricity when you are in a building during an Aurora. When you walk around a room (if you are listening with headphones), itās like walking around a virtual surround sound installation. The way they have captured and implemented the sound of the electricity ācracklingā is just great. Mika Vainio would have approved.
Civ 4 BTS. Iāve been playing it since 2005. square grid FTW. Best version of the game.
Stevens Sausage Roll. One of the best puzzle games ever made. Donāt let the graphics fool you.
Anything by Zachtronic. Programming puzzle games. Especially Shenzen IO, Opus Magnum and TIS 100 are brilliant games.
Space Engine VR if you have VR. Not a game but a great experience.
Stephenās Sausage Roll makes me feel incredibly stupid. Iām just totally stuck, and quite early on.
which one you stuck on? Maybe we can give you some spoiler-free clues. I only looked up one solution (cold frustration) and I regret it. Best puzzle game Iāve ever played.
Canāt remember now, I stopped playing ages ago. I should try again.
Edit: oh I think it was the Great Tower I stopped on, but Iād had to look up a solution before that and was disgusted with myself for cheating. Canāt remember if I spent much time on the tower or just stopped because I wasnāt clever enough for it.
Dying Light, maybe one of the best games of the generation.
Divinity Original Sin 2(&1) Easily one of the best games ever made.
Stories Untold
Observation.
You wonāt have played anything else like the last two.
Right now Iām really gorging on video games, not sure if I might be over doing it (I might be). Covid has really made me go full core into it. Even learning a little Blender lately, no music making at all.
Anyway had been adding to my Steam collection with some Assasins Creeds, Destiny 2 and a bunch of others. Now Iāve picked up a PS4 and am playing Horizon Zero Dawn - amazing game. If people like BOTW they will love this. Not sure why I snoozed on it for so long - the PC release brought it back on my radar.
Iāve been loving the photo mode. Lately Iām doing game posts to Insta, kindāve an iso solidarity thing for many of my mates who canāt leave the house, while in my State I can go to the beach or do whatever.
Iām loving it. Feels like games have really evolved since I last dived in. Assasins Creed Origins is phenomenal too. Really looking forward to Valhalla, and Cyberpunk. Iāve been playing this sweet cyber point and click too called TechnoBabylon which is a nice chill thing.
Control looks interesting also. And a game out next year called Everwild looks really great, interesting themes.
Wow. nearly 200 posts of musicians in a synthesizer forum about their favorite videogames, and no one mentions
REZ
??? (or did i oversee this? my eyes are getting old)
Come on people, whats wrong with you?
also no
Whipeout
???
I especyally adore the Fury extention of Whipeout HD, this is a timeless classic.
But I was happy to read that some of you like Alien Isolation, one of the most underrated horror games in the last decade. Id also recomment Resident Evil 7. Be shure to wear headphones or play with a good surround system.
I was about to say REZ
Since this is elektronauts Iām sure there are many fans of BioHazard, with music by 2 Unlimited.
Just downloaded on Switch
I always struggle with picking difficulty at the start of games - its a critical and stressful decision!
What do you reckon for Divinity 2?
I like a challenge, but Iām very much a dip in and out when I can kind of gamer.
And I definitely wouldnāt have time for multiple playthroughs.
Was thinking Tactician difficulty, but not the permadeath one.
Any thoughts?
Itās fairly tough on Classic tbh, some fights can take 30 minsā¦ proper by the skin of your balls for half an hour fights. As a reference I find Dark Souls easy (after practise) Iād save harder difficulties for 2nd play through.
