OK. So in the super low midi octaves (midi notes c-2 to b-2) trigger each of the 12 tracks on the AR. I want to trigger these notes with pads on my AKAI MPC Live. The issue is the default notes those AKAI pads trigger are in the higher note range so they just trigger the chromatic notes on the AR where you have one sound per midi channel rather than all 12 tracks triggering drum hits on the same channel. On the MPC Live there is a Track transpose feature that allows you to go down to -24 semitones lower but this is still 1 octave too high to trigger the 12 track/pads/notes. I also have an AKAI LPK25 that allows be to hit these notes but I want to use the MPC Live pads.
Also, why do some synths think they are C-2 while others think it’s C-0, and other still think it’s C-3. Pretty confusing right?
Oh. I just worked it out by the way. Total fluke but if it helps anyone else.
On the MPC Live you will have midi selected as the track and then you will also see the Midi Programme selector that has a ‘Pad Perform’ touch screen button. Press that and then select Pad Perform to [OFF]. I had it set to [Note] before.
Very confusing. There is no agreed standard for labelling the octave so each manufacturer uses their own system.
