I think so, yes. I don’t know the technicalities behind it, but you’ll usually have to attenuate your eurorack signals going out of your system into a regular mixer, and likewise amp up any incoming signal from a normal synth into the eurorack, but I guess it depends on whatever it is you want to feed into the system.
Unity gain is a noon on the Rainmaker so any signal can be put in without the need for a boost I think. And it is indeed one of the most compelling reasons to go euro !
I’ve been tempted by the T Resonator for so long now, I might go for one, the desktop version is pretty cheap. Euro version with cv might be cool but it takes a lot of space and I already have modules sitting in a drawer…
Ah, sounds about right!
Here’s a Rainmaker demo I made back when it came out, by the way, in case anyone’s interested. First part is the dry signal, then the rest are that very signal going through various home made presets on Rainy.
Just bought a PitchFactor which is great for creating weird blips and beats out of pretty much anything. Stereo signal path, dual pitch shifters with delay, loads of knobs for tweaking, extensive parameter control via midi cc and can be synced to midi clock.
This sounds amazing. But if I want this I’ll have to get a modest modular kit to put it in? Wish they’d make a standalone version for people who are afraid of their obsessions.
Has no one mentioned the Octatrack as a cool audio processing unit yet?!
Please expand.
What are your strategies? Can one use a number of tracks in the regular way over the main outs and use another set of stereo inputs and outputs for fx purposes in parallel, sending other instruments into it?
It works well standalone, but you’d need a small case. Those new 4ms pods would be nice if they were deep enough; they have deeper ones coming out I think. Rainmaker is definitely one of those modules that would make a great standalone box.
Yeah any of the 8 tracks can be used as thru tracks for fx processing while samples play back on the others. 2 FX blocks per track but you can use neighbour tracks to combine 2, 3 or 4 tracks’ FX blocks. You can also use a flex track to play back a recording buffer, rearranging, slicing and plocking incoming audio in real time.
Can you route the output of the FX chain to other outputs than the main outs?
Yes. Cue + Track sends the track to the Cue outs. In Studio Mode, the Cue outs act as dedicated outs.
Cool. Could be a good upgrade from my Machinedrum that I’m using as live resampling glitch fx. Input is mono (unless applying unpractical methods) and sampled audio quality is low, which is limiting the sonic potential.
The OT is like a drugged up non synthesis side of the MD (as noted in the manual).
I am waiting for some reviews of this:
Not sure if they are at NAMM or not but it looks ace!
I heard the FX on the previous units arent great. But that may have changed…
I know… but I’m not much of a sampler and I have a Rytm2 that does samples. OT is an expensive addition for just live resampling glitch tricks I wish the Rytm could do it like the MD!
This is sehr gut! Thanks!
Hey you asked. We can’t be held responsible for your GAS (take it to Elektron).
I’m really feeling this Koma Field Kit FX at the moment. The code for the digital fx is open source. haven’t seen any evidence that anyones gone at it though.
Can’t one do something with an OT audio track to create CV control? A pulse recording or something?
