CV cable, how much long?

Hello there all!

I have a simple question: how much long can I prepare a cable that will carry CV ?
I have AK (CV source) quite far from AH (CV dest) and I believe this cable should easily get to 5 metres long…will this cause issues?

Thanks in advance!

I’m no expert, but I’d imagine the only likely noticeable issue if the cable length was too long (whatever too long could be) would be slight voltage drops … so if you were running modulations or gates it’d be fine in a practical sense, but would maybe become slightly problematic for pitch - so for the AH I wouldn’t foresee an issue

if you have a long enough cable or cables and adaptors you could try between two pieces of gear and compare short run to long run

Definitely !

Today I’ll make a try with a already-there cable I have.
Thanks for the encouragement

Voltage drop in a patch eventually can be corrected with an A183-2 from Doepfer.

which I do not have :sob:
but always good to know…thanks!

Tried CV linear control for Cutoff frequency of AH’s filter using a 5 metres cable…so far (as long as I am unexperienced regarding CV) so good !

Thanks for all insights, more is welcome of course

For only regulating the filter, don’t worry about the voltage.
Pitch is something different.
