CV Cables - Adaptor Issue

Before anyone comments, I have used the search function and I do know Elektron make CV cable kits

I read as much as I could on the subject, purchased the Hose Stereo splitter and some adaptors. But ran into a problem.

When I use a 1/4 inch cable from the splitter to 3.5mm adaptor it works. But when I use a 1/4 inch adaptor to the splitter to 3.5mm patch cable it doesn’t? I would prefer to use the patch cable method to reduce pressure on the module.

Any ideas why this happens? Does it matter if the adaptors are mono or stereo?
Thanks

Mono/stereo should match the sockets of the gear. If you plug a stereo plug into a mono socket you will miss one of the two lines or you might have a bad contact. Now, if you use a “stereo splitter” you have stereo plugs only

Example: The A4/AK CV sockets provide two CV outs, but those are expected as separate “mono” CV ins by other gear, like modular systems or synths with CV in. Unfortunately a stereo-splitter will not work properly.

If you want to know, what causes the problems technically, I would recommend to search for descriptions of the different plug-socket circuit designs … like this

In comparison of the first and the second image we can see, if a stereo plug is inserted in a mono socket, the right channel is just not contacted and will be lost.

Oops actually meant the splitter splits to x2 mono cables.

Great thanks. This should help figure it out!
