The only correct answer I read in the whole thread. General parametric eq’s are just filterbanks adding to or subtracting from the input signal. Low shelf boost is just a low pass blended in phase with the input, blend out of phase to cut. Mid bands are band pass blended in or out of phase, high shelf is high pass.
And I thought the EQ button stood for extended quality, you say it’s extreme qups? So it’s for pros only, too much qoffee for me

I’m careful with the settings, or else I could end up getting a qup of covfefe.
All EQs are filters as @soup and @knobgoblin already said.
Most parametric EQs can be pinged when Q is high.
Phasers are also filters and can also be pinged.
Graphic equalisers and shelving desk eq can’t be pinged because they don’t tend to have Q/Resonance/feedback, generally, though there may be a very few exceptions.

Depending on the circuit it’s often an easy mod to make them work that way. Just adding an adjustable feedback control. I’ve done it a few times. I’ve usually taken a fairly rushed and ham fisted approach with good results.
