...different slice grids for same sample slot?

…hi there…

in a hurry to prepare a live set…and ask myself if parts can also hold and adress different slice grid settings of the same file in the same static slot…?

or does only one kind of slice grid can be defined per slot…?

thanx…a lot…per slot.

Yep. Only one.
Different settings possible with different slots.
Not enough available slots?
Can you detail what you want to achieve?
Maybe it’s possible with one slot / slice grid, with additional slices, plocking longer audio parts with LEN in slice number mode (Playback Setup > LEN = Slices).

if you’re running low on slots you could play the same sample twice in a row in one file, that would allow you to do more different slices without taking up an extra slot

…thanx for fast response…

and ok…i was afraid so…not running out of slots, but i made some chains i wanna use all over the place and i had some hope to slice once the official phrasings and once all into bits and pieces for further accidential appoaches just by adressing different part settings…

but ok…so i go for 64 slices all over and row the fixed phrases together in lots of single trigs…

On 1 trig you can increase the number of played slices, as I tried to explain above.

…facing problems on mk2, i don’t have on mk1…

folder structure…how can it be, that mk2 does not mirror the same running order of folders as on my desktop…???

…and fools around with big and small letters…hmmmpf.
…and why does it shorten the names even if there’s space left to show the whole file/folder name…???

…aaargh…i’m running out of time…and i feel like sitting in front of an ot for the first time again…
AAAARGH…again…and again…

Why should it? On the desktop you can sort the folders however you like, but the sorting within the OT is fixed (alphabetically ordered).

It displays how you named the stuff or doesn’t it?

It’s displays only 10 characters of the sample names no matter what. Depending on which characters gets displayed there may be more space available, but the OT ignores that. You can decide which characters gets displayed in the PERSONALIZE menu -> SHORT SAMPLE NAME.

Out of curiosity: are you really sure the MK1 behaves differently (at least with the latest firmware - because stuff changes)?

Try to make it simple then…

…i’m always late…happy procrastinating 'n stuff…i guess…

…yup…10 characters…i know…but no matter which option i choose…end+beg…beg only…end only…
it shortens way under 10 characters…lots of space left in the line…and first line under the head folder structure line, the first file field, reads out fine and all…all following lines got cryptic shortcuts then…hmmmm…

and it’s not that i’m doing this for the first time…can’t remember this happened before…and on mk1 it’s no problem at all…

…well…whatsoever…i got a long night in front of me…thanx for participating…

Have you tried the same CF card on the mk1?

My guess is that the file names themselves contains already “garbage” which the OT cannot interpret correctly (and displays it therefore wrong).

An example would be file names encoded in UTF-8 (1-byte encoded unicode).

You can do like sezare says, make all your slices and plock LEN (with LEN=slice in setup page) to the number of consecutive slices a trig should play. But also jb mentioned more slots, in case it wasn’t clear you can add the same sample to multiple slots and have them sliced differently…
