Hello community! I’m new here and first of all I want to thank everyone for such a useful place for all us elektron workshippers. I have a Digitakt and I’m looking for feedback to find the perfect partner for live sets. Im looking for a machine for long samples, that sounds great and also portable. The first thing that comes into mind its an MPC. If you have any experience pairing this two in terms of compatibility I’d totally appreciate, but im also open to other machines (No octatrack, analog rytm); looking for something for 600- 800 euros price range. Thanks for reading
Even more portable and fits the budget:
wow looks slick! do u have any experience syncing it with DG?
Not personally, but there are several owners/users on this forum. Have been tempted myself as it is advertised as working well in a setup as mixer/sampler/sequencer (OT lite)
Yep BB is a great pair. There are many ways to use it with the DT so I won’t get into it but you can checkout the Blackbox thread on this forum.
Sampling couldn’t be simpler. The combo is mighty!
great it really seems to be what im looking for! im gonna dig deeper into it. Thanks a lot
No problem! Welcome to the forum
I have the BlackBox and Digitakt, they sync fine through midi. You can use the DT sequencer to sequence the BB, you can use the DT encoders etc. as well. The BB just got a decent update adding in some basic but much needed features which makes it much more usable.
If simply playing longer samples is all you need, the BlackBox is perfect. If you need more of a music production environment, something like the Akai could be better.
I use my Digitakt with my Akai Force as well and it’s also a great combo. The three together is a sampling cornacopia.
thanks for the input! yeah I need it mostly for filtering in and out long samples, ambients and chords while Digitakt is doing everything else. haha three samplers its insane, for me Digitakt its almost perfect already!
The MPC is my favorite to partner with most any Elektron device. I have the 707 and the 101 along with several Elektron boxes. For me they are a perfect match with the MC providing abundant polyphony, full drum kit on a single channel, ROMpler sounds and a variety of polyphonic pads. Roland has really improved the sequencer with probability and the ability to vary the LFO speed per step. Not quite up to Elektron, but it is improving. For most of my music the MC707 is the foundation and background while the Elektron device takes the lead and gets most of the adjustments. I like it so much that I am thinking of selling my Behringer and Arturia boxes.
