Digitakt Recording Hardware Synth

I have a Nord Rack 2 and Digitakt. Everything works fine with Overbridge I can control the Nord through the 8 midi channels and set everything up no problem. My questions is what is the best method to simultaneously record this setup for the best results into FL Studio 20. Is there a way to track out the midi channels the same way I track out the regular channels with overbridge? Just a little lost, any help/ advice would be greatly appreciated.

For reference I have the midi out of the Digitakt going into the midi in of the Nord. I have the 2 stereo outputs of the Nord going into the ins of the digitakt.

Just record Digitakt input 1+2.

I don’t think it’s possible, you can maybe record midi via USB to your DAW but I don’t see the point to make midi sequencing into the DT and then record it to the DAW. It’s easier to make midi directly into the DAW, or just record audio from your DT.

What I used to do is to sample some sequence into the DT and use it in an audio track. It’s cool to add good reverb and delay. And it has more tuning and mangling in sample format than in midi sequence.

Ok so if i record digitakt input 1+2 is the quality still going to be good or does it mess with it?

basically im just trying to figure out how to record the nord through the digitakt in the highest quality

The Digitakt AD converters are solid but not the best, 48K 24bit and might introduce some grain, but in my experience it is still very usable in a mix through Overbridge. If you are looking for pristine recording it is not really the way to go, you will need a soundcard.

Also, the Nord will be summed to mono, afaik it is a hardware implementation for sampling and can not be circumvented in Overbridge.

No, when record with OB, you can record in stereo. The L+R sum is only when sampling into the DT.
For the quality of recording, no problem. The sound is very clean and you wont hear any difference with the direct output of your synth.
And it’s a synth, you don’t need the true real sound because the source isn’t a true real sound itself. Maybe to record a very good guitar or piano the DT is light but for a synth there is no problem at all.

Don’t worry about degrading the quality by recording through the DT inputs. Besides summing to mono (when sampling) the recording quality of the DT is pretty good… a very good audio interface might sound slightly better but the DT is not bad in any way.
