Digitakt USB Splitter

Hey guys!

I did a small search and couldn’t find any info on this one.

I want to clock my modular with the Expert Sleeper FH-1. However, this module requires an USB connection.

In the future I’d like to use the USB for overbridge too, does anyone have experience with USB Y cables?

All the best,

A.

This does not exist. There are these things called “hubs” that might be of use.

It is not possible to have a USB device tethered to two hosts at once, let alone with two different services.

When connected to Overbridge it is recommend to use the DAW as master clock for any other instruments in the same setup. I would suggest syncing the modular to your DAW, or to send regular MIDI over DIN from the Digitakt if you are using the MIDI sequencer.

Thanks for the input guys!

Will check around:)

No, a hub can’t work here: There can be only one USB “host”, and USB “devices” can only be connected to one host. Hubs merely lets you connect more devices to a single host.

The FH-1 is a USB host, and a computer running Overbridge is a USB host. The DT is a USB device and can only be connected to one of them at a time.

@Alume - It isn’t clear if you want to be able to run the DT w/Overbridge to your computer at the same time as you are using it to control your modular… or if you are just trying to have to the option to do one or the other. If the later, you just can’t have them both connected at the same time. Good news is, USB B connectors (back of the DT) are quite sturdy and can withstand lots of plugging - and of course like all USB can be done “hot”.

If you want everything to play together… then FH-1 is the wrong unit for this. Run USB from DT to your computer, then you need some other MIDI (via DIN or USB) interface to your modular.

I know. Sorry, I wasn’t sure whether the FH-1 was a host or not which is why I said “might”; should have looked that up before answering.

you hit the nail there.

I have a multiclock which I use to clock my modular. I was, however, aiming for a seriously streamed live setup featuring the DT and overbridge (so that I can use my soundtoys plugins). Next, to that, I’d like to have my modular running as a mono.

What I’m thinking now is to rack my ocoast and use its clock output icw some clock dividers/multipliers

Edit: Then i’ll be able to sue the usb for overbridge and use the DT’s midi output–> 0coast midi input.

I have a similar setup.

Digitakt USB Out -> Endorphin.es Shuttle Control host port. I also like to clock Bitwig with the DT because I like using the transport buttons.

This works for me when I’m meesing around in Bitwig -
Digitakt MIDI Out -> Roland UM-ONE (or similar) -> FH-1 (or Shuttle)
Digitakt USB Out -> DAW (Overbridge???..)
