Disable "Stop" but how?

hey awesome people …
.
.
so , I am jamming, and the clock is comming from my mate… I am on the AR and A4 and maybe OT …whatever…
.
.
I go into live record and push whatever my fingers do… then the horrible unforeseen happens:
::;,

.
I press S T O P … fuck, sequencer came to a halt…nothing left but to request a new start signal, which means everything has to be stopped, to keep everything synced…
.
.
is there no option to disable STOP ?.

Just press play and then nudge the tempo till its tight.
I hardly ever sync my Octa, MD, Mono.

that is an interesting workaround, but I dont think I could do that with confidence… much rather had the stop button removed

Let your mate continue playing, Put you’re patterns where you want the to restart. As k your mate to push Stop when you’re prepared to restart. If you’re mate has a delay availeble - aks him to give it a long tail for the transition.
Now when he stops everything - he just has to count ( stay in ) the beat when he pushes start - en HOPLa off you go.
You’d probably have to practice this with your mate a few times, you could prepare some poitns in the composition where you could turn to if something happens.
For me this works if I make a smart way of using the chains, so I allways know where the machines could restart in the middle of a session without loosing the structure of the song or session I’m in.

the delay, sounds also like a bit of an elegant workaround. …
but you know, the way you can say transport receive, on and off… I would like that thing to disable stop …

Make a little box that can cover it - maybe fix that with a little magnet - so it’s easy to remove :astonished:

This happens when you press play as well. And you have to press play and record at the same time for live record, right?
I hate this, I get that problem with the sequencer stopping as well. Am i doing it wrong?

yes, also when pressing play … (now I remember correctly how often that happens when I want to start live recording mode …doooh)

You can press record first - hold it - and press play while holding the record -button.

but still, …, the sequencer will stop when either hitting play or stop .(

What I miss is a punch-in ( via pedal ) for recording

no thread hijacking please ; U … this is important for “me” …

Im using Abeton and Overbridge with only an A4.

My midi settings are : All disabled except “clock recieve” and “transport recieve”

When Ableton (the master) is playing, I cannot stop my A4 by pressing stop.

When I do hit stop, the notes that are playing at that point get “cut off” , but the sequencer keeps running normally, which creates an interesting shortened note effect on all tracks…

I wonder if the Elektron boxes will get Ableton Link in future, as they seem to have been working closely with the folks over at Ableton. That would sort out your problem!

An external controller would have been great though : by externalizing the switching to Live Record mode, you would have avoided to hit Play or Stop button…
So I think vos’ suggestion was relevant.

Is there such MIDI signal ?
On OT there is one for Play and one for Stop, I know this because I hate them (not the smartest idea to have coded these as notes).
But i couldn’t find a way to switch to Live recording mode from an external controller.
OT wizards ? What’s your word on this ?

that is sweeeet! …now, if that would only work when you have 2 elektron boxes connected (or of course even more in the daisy chain)

yes, that makes VOSs comment much more relevant … my apoligies! …

My take on this is to have 2 independent signal chains. In my case TR-8 is beat matched by ear.

It’s too easy to hit by accident ‘scale’ button on TR-8 and break everything.

2 independent signal chains still would not stop the sequencer from being stopped

Midi Link is available. I haven’t tested these personally… But they are free. [http://Link to MIDI by Alexandernaut https://appsto.re/gb/tYsJ_.i](http://Link to MIDI by Alexandernaut https://appsto.re/gb/tYsJ_.i)
