Does anyone else consider the OctaTrack a 24Track?

Or should it be the IcosikaitetraTrack?

I’ve been thinking about this for the OctaTrack there are:

8x - Tracks as Samples, Flex Machines, Effects…

8x - MIDI tracks in MIDI mode, also available simultaneously with the audio tracks.

8x - Track Recorders. The fully independent track recorders on each track that are always available regardless of what is happening on a track.

Does anyone else approach the OctaTrack with this in mind?

So far I’ve got a 16 track as i got stuck Into midi the last week

I’ve not fully utilised the recorders while playing existing tracks yet, I did it with one track yesterday and sampled a few tracks live then screwed the sample up to add texture while still playing the others, it’s gets hard to keep up though unless the arranger is working for you, gets hectic.

i always asked myself what elektron could do with that portastudio concept.
a mixture of the OT, a portastudio and an easy to use (complex) looper including many ins/outs (audio, midi, usb, cv, ovebridge…)

I have tended to view it as a 16 track, since you can’t really playback the recorders without using one of the audio tracks. So I guess that would be a hexadeca-track or hexakaideca-track?

But one of my hopes has been that it could be used to ‘mix down’ the audio from MIDI tracks to an audio track, freeing up the MIDI tracks again after that.

Due to my limited time since I have gotten the OT I haven’t quite explored that as much as I had hoped yet. Still planning on playing with that idea though.

Once you start digging in to the OT you’ll have no problems resampling your midi Tracks to one/multiple audio tracks on OT, and freeing up those midi Tracks for new stuff

Good point!
I see the OT as a 16392 track sampler with a refractive 8 bus fx/voice routing matrix.

128 flex slots, 128 static slots, 64 slices each + 8 midi channels + 8 rec buffers.

That’s 16400.

No idea how to write that in Greek.

I think of mine as a monosynth.

Turn it on, sample some thing, apply much mangling on board, then trigger that from an external sequencer.
