Hi guys,
Wondering if there’s a DSLR out there that has stereo USB in/ line in so I could plug my SP404mk2 or OP-1 straight into it for video making purposes.
Recording performances while filming and take advantage of the high quality video zooms, lenses etc.
Currently using an iPhone 13 mini, not bad at all but just curious.
Thanks for your help!
…using the inbuilt mic of the camera and record ur gear as best as possible and the usual way with a littlebit of room monitoring on, also talking to a an xtra setup mic leaves u with best results…
snip ur finger to the camera, for later sync reference in ur cutting software, que up ur camera rec ording with the recordings from ur comupter, mute the camera sound recording and ur good to go…
You’d be looking at proper video camera gear for that kind of functionality rather than DSLR - easiest route to that kind of recording is using a portable recorder along with a DSLR, if you just want 1/8" stereo line in then a Zoom H1n will do you fine at under £100.
If you get something like an H5 (£200) then you can use 1/4" jacks and do 4-track recording enabling you to record ambient room noise as well as the instruments.
As Reeloy suggests you’d sync that up afterwards in your video editing software. Only real way around that is using an external mic on your DSLR but you’d need pretty good acoustics and mic if you want it to sound halfway decent.
Edit: I just realised that you can probably just bounce down on an OP-1 anyway so the above might be a redundant suggestion if that’s your jam.
