Great job ! Thanks a lot, complete backup done
would this work on octatrack?
No elk doesnāt work in octatrack
Hi, new M:S user here.
Dae have this working with a Chromebook?
It finds and scans the +Drive but I donāt see any samples or structure.
It feels like Iām missing something obvious. Any help greatly appreciated, thanks.
I own a Digitakt.
When I download a project to my computer using Elk-Herd, does it also contains the samples?
I mean, if i remove the samples from the +Drive and I copy the project back to the DT does it copy the samples too?
This would simplify a lot the sample management, I could remove samples without thinking too much if they are used in a project.
Thank you.
Not that Iām aware of.
I just discovered this tool, this is amazing how practical and well designed it is. Thank you a thousand times for this!
Just because I saw nobody mention it before: for me the āSend projectā feature seems broken on macOS Mojave using Chromium (v87) and DT with firmware 1.20A. The progress bar is displayed correctly on the computer but nothing happen on the DT. However it works fine on Windows 10 (with same browser).
I had the same problem on the Macos Catalina and Chrome v87. My DT was in Overbridge mode. When I switched DT to āUSB MIDIā mode elk-herd started to work correctly.
Hi,
What a great tool this is! @mzero : incredible work!
Fetching a project works perfectl. After cleaning up and sending project to the DT, nothing happens on the sample pool in my DT project. I changed some pattern names from within elk-herd and this worked fine.
Do I have to reload or save first?
Iām on DT1.20, 2020 iMac running Big Sur. DT is set to USB midi.
EDIT: read that this is a common issue, so I asume this behaviour will be corrected soon. Will try sending twice from elk-herd to DT.
Is anyone using this with his / her AR? Iād like to know whether itās possible to move Kits around between projects. Actually I donāt really understand why Elektron thinks Kits should be per project and not like Sounds systemwide.
Iām probably asking too much, but Is there any chance Elk-Heard will be ported over to Mac and PC as a stand alone app? It looks fantastically great, and would be very useful, but I refuse to switch over to Chrome just to use an app. Iām perfectly happy with the browser I already use, plus I donāt like how Chrome hogs memory and battery usage.
Iāll gladly buy the app creator a case of beer instead of one beer.
I think your value of beer and your value of coding may be a bit at odds!
But if Iām wrong you could use something like this GitHub - nativefier/nativefier: Make any web page a desktop application
Cool thanks! This looks usefulā¦ Hopefully I can figure it out.
I agree that the value for coders is worth far moreā¦ I only mentioned that since the Elk-Heard creator has a, āIf you like the app. buy him a beer.ā tab somewhereā¦ Dave Merch mentioned it on his video talking about Elk-Heard.
Thanks again!
Sorry one last questionā¦ Will Nativefier work with Elk-Heard? Chrome has Web Midi built into the platform itself so Iād think it wonāt work unless Nativefier has Web Midi as well unless its just some sort of library extension? Maybe its works since Nativefier is built on Chromium? Maybe Iām incorrect? I know a little bit, but Iām not a coder. Thanks!
Updateā¦ I just discovered that the āOperaā browser also works with Elk-Heard in case anyone is looking for an alternative to Chrome.
Please please send an official feature request to elektrons feature request email asking for global kits. The more that send the more likely we will get it!
Maybe in Sweden.
Just use chrome! The battery/memory āissuesā wonāt be such an issue if you only have the web app open. How long do you intend to be using the app? Its quick.
You can disconnect internet and download the app too if you donāt wanna be connected.
I just discovered that the āOperaā browser works with Elk-Heard if anyone else wants an alternative to Chrome. I have no idea if Opera has the same memory and battery hog issues though? Opera runs on Chromium so I donāt know if thatās a Chromium thing, or a Chrome browser thing?
Iām not sure I quite understand your memory/battery hog concerns? Do you intend to have elk herd constantly running while using your device? I usually just use it for setup of projects etc then close the app
Iāve read that the battery issue is worst on MacBooks which I happen to do all of my music on. Already as it is, my DAW kills my battery at a faster rate than Iād like. One article I read said Chrome kills your battery 28% faster than it would have if you werenāt using it. I like to have as little as possible on my Mac book competing for resources with my DAWā¦ Including RAM, and battery power, memory storage and whatever else.
