I guess it would be something like lofi hiphop with more synths than usual. Basically a combination of the stuff I like: samples, hiphop drums, jazz chord progressions, synths and drum machines, and a little ambient to crazy modular stuff. Don’t know if it fits exactly anywhere.
Well, I just got an email that the softube chandler germanium compressor is on sale for $99, so good timing on that one. I think I will pick it and also compare it to a demo of the arouser or another Distressor plugin clone.

With hip hop drums I would try parallel compression. Smash the drums like crazy and then use wet controll to turn the signal down and use it like a layer beneath the original drums.
Brings up all the fuzzy details from the samples but give the drums room to breath and leaves the dynamic intact.
Same can be done with saturation.
End of chain would be another compressor to glue things together. This one is almost doing nothing, just evens some bumps.
