Headphone out crackle

WAs wondering of anyone ahs experienced headphone out issues with the OT?

In mine, the right channel crackles and only comes in once the volume is over a certain threshold, useually really loud, it’s ok for a few minutes but then returns to crackly after a short time.

thanks

Known problem. Mine has this on the left channel.

yep - it’s a known issue. log a support call and send it back (if you can and if it’s still in warrenty).
i sent mine back and they re soldered the connection - work perfectly now.

Yup happened to my first OT, it was a known fault and Elektron fixed it up.

Mine’s doing it too. I thought I had it sorted (isolated it on plastic), but it started doing it again while I was sequencing my MicroBrute, so I’ll be opening a ticket with support again after my girlfriend flies back to Oz.

What’s pretty crazy is this. I did a little test, played with my OT for half an hour on a laptop tray and nothing, but when I took the tray away and rested it on my fleece blanket covered legs, within 5 minutes the left side had cut out completely (a quick comp gain boos knocks it back in for a few minutes). I replaced the tray beneath it, and it didn’t even take two minutes for audio to return to normal. Thought I had it figured out.

But then two nights ago it did it on my new plastic table I’d set up. Sigh.

try removing the cf card. power up and test in demo mode also insert stereo signal into a/b inputs monitor through the headphones
problem still there? now reset the machine. put the card in and restart.
this fixed mine…
it aint analogue type distortion or crackle, very digital in nature to my ears

Same problem here, suddenly the headphone sound strange, like sounds are being canceled between left and right outputs? If I pull the plug half out I can here a normal mono sound.

Analogback, I tried this without success, any more ideas? Is there a hard reset?

Difficult to believe it has to do with soldering because I only removed my headphone once or twice…

Just opened a ticket to send mine in. Still a bit pissy that I have to pay to ship it in for repair for such a well-known problem while under warranty (yes, I know what the official policy is. Owner pays to ship it to repair, Elektron pays to ship it back).

Whatever, I just want my shit working again. Though it’s also tempting to just crack it open and resolder the joint myself if that’s all they’re going to do. I can handle that much and my warranty is almost up (less than a month). Really don’t want to be w/ out a MIDI sequencer, either, but JRRShop hasn’t shipped my Monomachine yet, and they’re blaming Elektron, who is blaming supply… lol.

I don’t think they will neccassirarly just re solder it. I’ swear I’ve read cases where they’ve replaced an entire board. So might still be worth sending it in whilst under warranty to get brand new I/O s.

now that you mention it, I do recall at least one person on EU that had their entire board replaced. still feeling burned having to pay to ship it over a manufacturing defect that has claimed many an Octatrack.

Ah well, will see what Cenk says.

I had the problem once. Resolder. Problem came back. Sent it away. Replaced the logic board. Problem STILL came back. Now I just have it permanently hooked to a mixer and listen to the headphone outs on the mixer. fuck it.

There’s a few things that can work temporarily:

HP jack halfway in
Adjust mixer gain
adjust balance (pan)
reboot
factory reset

I had all these things work for a while (an hour or so each) and they all stopped working eventually.

I sent mine back for repair.

you were the one I was thinking of that kept getting the crackle coming back. Looks like worst-case I leave everything hooked up to my Tascam and use it’s headphone jack.
Of course if the crackle comes back on mine, it’ll be outside of warranty and Elektron can kiss me in a dark place for a $465+labor board to fix a god-damned headphone jack if it comes to a board replacement lol.

Jacking up the gain with a compressor on track 8 set up as universal will clear the crackling/sound drop out for mine. Always has. It is just a bummer to interrupt my flow and fix it.

yeah, that’s the temp fix i use, too, except I do it on any track that’s playing audio.

That is insane that you have to pay to ship a defective product to them while under warranty.

Wow this sucks, happened to my OT too, right side is way louder than left, and I’m out of warranty :frowning:

Me too, got a ticket, didn’t send bcause of the shipping price. I found that mine can be fixed by pumping the volume/pan in the mixer, amp and track page and/or restarting/reloading. This would be a real pain if it happened often, but doesnt, thankfully

happened to me too.

the support team were really helpful and it didn’t take long to fix. mine is out of warranty, but it was not expensive. postage is the worst part!

depending on how you use your OT you could get an adapter to pair the cue or main outs and use your headphones there.
