Help please - send Octatrack MIDI to Logic

'm struggling with Logic 9 (typically!). I just moved house recently and am in the process of decorating what will the studio.

In the meantime I thought to quickly set up the macbook with the octatrack to record some material i’ve been working on in the Octatrack recently and have a play around with the MIDI sequencing functionality (as the Octa is relatively new).

I’ve got the Octa connected to the TM1 MIDI IN and OUT and have transport working correctly.

I’m having difficulties though in getting Logic to play the MIDI the Octa is sending.

Can someone please help me with this please?

I know I should really just splash out and buy Ableton Studio (i’ve currently got the Lite version as I use mostly outboard stuff) however in the meantime (i.e. over this weekend) was hoping to play around with some of Logic’s soft synths and plugs.

Any ideas? cheers!

Does the TM1 work with the OT?
Do you have a sound card with a midi port? if yes, try to connect your OT directly to this port.

Ok i’ll give that a go - i was trying to keep the gear to a minimum as it’s set up on the dining table and the gf won’t be too happy with loads of stuff set up :sob:

Am i right in thinking that Octatrack doesn’t do MIDI over USB?

No, just to connect the Flash Card to the computer.

So i’ve still got it connected through TM1 and USB - somehow pressing the sequencer button when in sampling mode is sending midi notes to logic (playing the electric piano) but the MIDI part is doing nothing.

I’ve got the midi channels set up on the octatrack. Any ideas?

Does the TM1 definitely not work to support this?
