Help update/ USB DISK ACCCESS not showing up on my computer

Hi everyone… here another chapter in my octatrack love hate story.

Something is wrong again and I am almost sure it’s the machine that is doing something wrong. The scenes affect crossfader settings, also if I didn’t set them like that. Read another story on this forum with exactly this problem… I decided to update from 1.25E to the newest 1.25H

But… how?

I try to load the update to the octatrack… using USB cable and Function-Project ->System -> USB Disk Mode

According to the manual:
“USB DISK MODE enables the USB connection. Connect the Octatrack to a computer using a USB cable, select USB DISK MODE and press [ENTER/YES] to make the Compact Flash card appear as an external mass storage device to the computer. When the Octatrack is connected to a computer via USB audio pools can be filled with content.”

Unfortunately the Flash Card doesn’t apprear as an external mass storage device to my computer.

it happens to me on a random basis. however every time it did, a restart of the OT solved the issue… been wondering myself why is that even happening, but it occurs so rarely, it never really bothered.

restarted octatrack, restarted my computer, connected midi cable, all 20+ times… suddenly it apprears… and now the problem is solved.

I have pretty much experience with technology, but never had problems with a machine like Octatrack. I think it is alive, and usually very cantankerous.

This happens to me on OS X too, the Octatrack doesn’t like to be hot plugged. It seems to work ok if you connect the USB cable before powering on the Octatrack. Also, always eject the CF card via the computer :wink:

Also, if none of that works (and you are on Windows), go into your Advance Power settings and select Disable for your USB selective suspend setting. That’s what fixed it for me.
