My discussion with my wife on the topic after I presented her my latest setup:
Wife: Jeez, Nordfunk - how many synths a normal person should own?
Me: A normal person owns at least five synths!
Wife: But that sounds like a synth aficionado…
Me: No, synth aficionados usually own at least 15 synths.
Wife: Sounds like an obsessive person…
Me: No, an obsessive person owns at least dozens of synths.
Wife: Sounds insane…
Me: No, insane people don´t own any synths.
Wife: But that sounds like a normal person…
Me: No, as I said, a normal person owns at least five synths!

Synths that I don’t know end to end are too many.
as many as you can afford, need, have space/room for, and time to learn/use!
I love using all my gear over time. I will spend time in spurts on my tiny Roland boutiques, delve into soft synth plugins and larger synths like my Oberheim and techno jams on the Elektrons then some experimental weird stuff on the modular.
