Initial thoughts on my brand new MnM

My brand new MnM arrived last night and it was almost immediately clear that I made the right choice. I was a little worried, based upon some of the threads here and elsewhere, that it would be overwhelming or difficult to construct the sounds I want, seeing as I have limited synthesis experience, but that hasn’t been the case so far. In fact, coming from the MD, many of the basic functions made immediate sense (others, like the track selection/pause, the green trig lights, etc. will take some getting used to) and I was able to create a handful of basic but really fun jams over the course of a few hours. I’m also really impressed with the delay, which has a few more parameters on each track than the MD (some of these, such as delay time, feedback, etc are available on the MD, but they can only be changed in the Master FX section, not individual tracks). Even the drums, though limited, are phenomenal when you place them all on one track and start tweaking (which reminds me I really need to use CTL-All on the MD more).

I realize I’ve only just scratched the surface, but I’m amazed at how gratifying this little guy is right off the bat and can’t wait to dig in deeper.

Yess!

The MNM is the most overlooked and unappreciated of the Elektron boxes.

One of the great things about the MNM is it an instrument that will always surprise you, Just when you think you’ve figured it all out you will stumble across new sounds and textures. It sounds stupid but the more you use it the more you “get” it but I don’t mean that from a learning the feature set standpoint I mean you’ll get vibe of the instrument and it will inspire you to start pulling all kinds of great sounds from it.

I’ve had mine for around 2 years and I’m still surprised by what I can get from it!

Now you have to grab an analog four to complement it lol

totally agree and also very much about pairing Monomachine with an A4 - A match made in heaven, hell, somewhere in between and possibly in another galaxy far far away!
Anytime I turn on my Monomachine I have an instant release of endorphins!

The MNM is my favorite piece of gear that I own. It has this mystical reputation for a good reason. It won’t take long for you to realize that you are gazing into an abyss. An endless horizon exploration. It can be configured in so many ways, it boggles most human minds, and even a few non human minds (so I’m told).

Hi, you lucky man! Glad you made the best choice! Some inspiration for you:
