Happy new year! In 2014 I’m doing a project I’m calling Natural Athleticism. Each Wednesday I’m releasing a track I made over the past week. I’m trying to work on playing live, so most of the tracks will be live takes with video.

It’s Wednesday again.
Is anyone here doing Weekly Beats?
I was treating Natural Athleticism as a standalone project, but then on New Year’s day I found out that Weekly Beats was happening this year, so I’ve been submitting these tracks there as well.
Very cool tracks!
I hope this project doesn’t keep you from more cohesive EP’s / albums like the beloved Grandma Tapes!
Thanks man! I’ll definitely be putting out more cohesive stuff in the future, but I want to see what a year of weekly tracks does to me.
Week 3 took a turn toward…disco? Another track on Octatrack + Minitaur. I put together a video for this one with footage from my trip to Alaska last summer.
Week 4. As usual, started on Octatrack. Then added drums and vocals in Logic.
good stuff as usual jamrod. the visuals give it a nice presence. I am looking to integrate more vocal samples in my tunes so this is very inspiring
I am doing Weekly Beats as well.
Feel free to check my output at http://weeklybeats.com/#/encym
Good jams here!
Really enjoying this and great idea to release tracks once a week.
Was meant to do it myself but failed in the first week
How you liking the Rodec Restyler btw?
@koshimazaki yeah it’s really nice putting things out weekly. Usually I generate a lot of ideas and slowly work on them more or less in parallel. Naturally, things get left behind. Having a weekly deadline helps me to identify the best kernel of material I have and develop it further.
I love the Restyler. Aside from being a really nice sounding filter, it’s really great on any kind of percussive material, as you can set different frequency ranges to trigger an amplitude increase/decrease on other ranges (e.g., getting the kick to duck the hats). I really cut down on any gear I’m not using a lot, and the Restyler has a permanent place in my setup. It’s also great for giving some analog grit to boring sounds as I sample them into my OT.
Love your initiative,Ink Jet
i know a guy releasing a new sound every day on his blog. lovely sounds and some thoughts with it. mostly nord modular patches.
have a look

BTW Grandma Tapes is still fantastic
That synth / whatever it is sounds amazing on the last track.
@encym,
I just listened to your music on Weekly Beats. Really beautiful stuff. What kind of setup are you working with for the ambient tracks?
i really like what you’re doing here. keep up the good work!
Week 5 - Used to Be a Baby
(As is probably clear from last week, the videos for these are usually an afterthought)
Hi there & thanks.
I use lots of guitar. Some of the unrecognisable.
If you would like to know about a particular tune let me know and I’ll try and be more specific.
Cheers!
Week 6: DIPLOMATIC DEADLINES
Great stuff, as always.
finally i see the minitaur used as i want it…
this convinced me to buy it… thanks!
