Retrokits RK002 cable will give you polyphony on either the digital tracks or the analog VCO tracks, it worked well on my DT, AR and OT.
I guess what I am trying to say is that at least half of common synth terminology is made up by marketers so there isnāt such a clear set of terminologies. Paraphonic was made up by either Korg or Roland for instance (I canāt remember which company but it was invented for marketing purposes). They put it in some ad copy and it ended up getting adopted with other companies. Same with multi-timbral.
Anyway I hear you. Syntakt doesnāt take the same approach to polyphony as Digitone etc.
Thatās great to know, but personally, Iād rather just plug in my Hydrasynth and sequence it with a midi track. Iād love it if the Syntakt would just copy the way they handled track/polyphony allocations on the Digitone, but even without it, Iām not too worried about it personally.
The arp and chorus on the other hand, those are sad omissions for me personally.
Have some fun with what polyphonic means on this thread:

RK002 seems an interesting workaroundā¦
What about RK008? Do you know if it can do what RK002 does?
I wonder if a firmware update could allow the headphones out to only output select tracks?
Mini cue out almost
More realistic maybe the fx track could be routed to the headphones out only?
thereās not anything that can be accommodated wrt this as the headphones out is directly linked with mains (as on most other elektron devices and confirmed recently here by a designer)
For those who have this hooked up with the DT and DN - how are you chaining them up?
I thought about the ST ahead of DT to use the DT compressor with the ST but I want to make most of the effects block on ST so Iāve DT into ST and DN last (mainly cos I like to play notes/chords with my right hand so have DN further right on my deskā¦.). The ST effects block really makes DT samples n single wave stuff sound so much nicer.
NOT REALLY
That sounds like a good setup. I was thinking of, when I get my Syntakt in a couple days, put my Microfreak, into DN, into ST, into DT for compresssing everything. I wonder how everyone else chooses to route theirs.
And it turns out that the āpolyphonyā of the chord machine is generated āby changing the operators ratios to make the chordā, which means that itās highly unlikely that this chord machine would get a true polyphonic version ā¦ it would be a re-write.
Where is the archived āElektron - new sounds from a new place Episode IIā?
I donāt think you should read too much into the extemporaneous speech of an Elektron employee doing PR work, especially since he probably got a contact high from the guy next to him. The Model:Cycles manual describes the Chord machine (and I havenāt seen any indications that the Syntakt SY Chord machine is any different, except for offering Unison 1) as āA chord and unison cluster that utilizes the 4 FM operators as individual voices, with a sweeping wavetable for timbral complexity.ā No need to speak of ratios, especially since the selection of chords gets into some pretty esoteric jazz chords, for which the precise tuning is probably the subject of heated debate somewhere. Itās a major rewrite because the M:C and AR (whose codebases were adapted) donāt offer polyphony.
While we are on the subject of machines taken from M:C, the Perc machine from it has become PC Carbon in Syntakt. I donāt think Iāve seen any explanation of āCarbonā, have I missed something?
I donāt usually pre/back-order synths but I think Iām blood oath bound to 'takt-style devices now so hello backorder.
Itās a Web-based ācommunity radio stationā in L.A., they probably donāt work on weekends. Iām sure itāll be up Monday or Tuesday. The previous one was up quickly because it was first sounds. I didnāt see anyone livepost it here (I just forgot to tune in).
Itās a carbon copy of the M:C one ?
Very good!
Tangent but theyāre doing a Member Drive atm. From what Iāve seen theyāre almost always working but not always for site maintenance / archivingā¦
Given the reports of how it runs hot, Iām sure the Syntakt can be used to toast bread
Is anyone experiencing issues with the FX Track not responding to triggers?
Iāve read the manual and watched videos repeatedly and donāt believe Iāve done something wrong but Iād be very happy if someone could point out a user error vs needing a factory reset:
Problem: Neither the Amp envelope nor the Filter Envelope responds to trigs.
- Trig page: LFO.T, FLT.T, and AMP.T all enabled (disabled and reenabled has not changed result), Length default at 1/4, changed to 1/16 and back. Prob=100%
Note: Both Filter and Amplitude have been used together as well as separately (individually) without changes in results:
-
Filter test setting: LP4 at 55 Hz, with depth at +40
-
Amplitude depth max at 127, Amp Env Reset=On (turned off/and on, no change), Mode=-AHD (changed to AHD then -AHD no change)
Just to be clear, any audio routed to the FX track is processed by all fx settings (Drive, Filter, Reverb, Delay, Panning, and Amp gain) but the envelopes are not responding to any Trigs entered.
Any help is greatly appreciated
