Linux mint persistent pen drive

https://www.linuxmint.com/

i m running a live cd on a usb stick … I broke my windows

since I like it I d like to use a pen drive persistent linux mint … with the joy of keeping setting etc : )

can anybody walk me through creating on of these?

I d also like to know if I can save files on the stick I am using now and keep the files after reboot.

I m quite a noob !

thanks

You should be able to do that with no problems - I set up an SD card to boot into Mint 18.3 last week and installed VCV Rack onto it (it won’t run on my current 17.2 desktop) and it seems to have kept the settings just fine.

As far as creating a USB stick, what OS are you using currently?

linux mint live cd 18.3

now I d like to get this one as a persistant one

You’ll need to either install the Mint 18.3 ISO onto a USB stick using some other OS (which of course might not be possible for you right now) or I think you can run an install > USB stick/SD card etc from the live CD.

I’ll try booting up from the Mint 18.3 SD and see what it says.

Also, how did you make or obtain the Mint Live CD?

i used antergos to download a mint version.

I used antergos to make a xubuntu distro

i broke antergos quickly after

i have 3 sticks with 2 systems running. i like mint, i dont like xubuntu, because the buttons are on the LEFT …

I liked antergos while it was running.

now I d like mint as persistent, but i cannot find a install persisten option in either

unetbootin

or

startup disk creator!

Hey TrabanT.

In UNetbootin you should see an option named
“Space used to preserve files across reboots (Ubuntu only)”.
This will give you persistent data space on your usb-stick.

Maybe a look to this link will help:

Its a bit older, but for me the information still looks valid.

Good luck.
