i don’t know why… but in my chain of things i don’t want the octatrack to the be the king of the boxes.
i just don’t.
is anyone using the octatrack doing live sampling, with it, but it isn’t the master?

Yes - manually set BPMs to match and then select Sync Transport in the MIDI Control menu.
At least you’ll get it to start and stop along with your other gear. You can check Receive MIDI Clock, but that disables Pickup machine overdubbing.
Flex/static machines should generally be OK even receiving MIDI clock and you can get some cool effects radically changing the tempo down from a master sequencer with timestretching on (Cirklon can go as low as 5 BPM for example).
