Looking for opinions on a rack mount (or desktop) CD/digital player to integrate into my setup.
My music gear is away from my computer and I would like a more tactile way to interact with CDs and mp3s other than my phone or tablet. Mostly, I want to have a CD/digital file queued as a reference for whatever I’m working on. I’d also appreciate the ability to scan thru and loop parts of a track and have that output ran into my mixer.
I’m open to suggestions but would rather stay off my computer if possible.
I’ve done something similar recently, but it’s not exactly what you’d call pro-audio…
I have loads of field recordings and bits of music I’ve done on Minidiscs that I wanted to be able to sample bits of, plus I like picking-up weird looking cassettes and CDs in charity shops that I can sample.
So I bought a small secondhand Sony micro-system thing that has CD/MD/Tape/Radio and I sample directly from the headphone out. The model I have is a CMT-M333NT (in case anyone is interested). The eBayer I bought it from couldn’t understand why I didn’t want the speakers, but thankfully in the end they didn’t send them!
