Loose parts in digitakt

I opened my new Electron Digitakt and something was loose rattling around inside. I was afraid that maybe somcame loose inside. I loosened the six hex screws that secure the top control panel plate and removed it and there was a loose screw inside! I removed it and secured the control panel plate back. Everything works for the most part but sometimes I have to press a button repeatedly to get the function I want to turn on. Maybe Electron will send me a free demo version of a Digitone since the quality of the Digitakt I got was poor.

Definitely return it. You wont be getting a digitone but whoever you bought from should happily exchange it for a functioning unit.

If they can tell that you’ve taken the front panel off then your warranty may be void, no?

I just took it off and removed the loose screw. I put the panel back on without scratching the paint on the small black screws that hold it on. You can’t tell anything. I don’t want to return it cause I need the rhythm machine to play out places. I don’t want tio pay for something (especially almost $800) and then do without it for a while. All the hassle of the return process is rediculous seeing as though you already paid for it. Where’s the quality control? For eight hundred bucks I shoulf be guaranteed a rhythm machine and be compensated for any quality issues!

If you think something is wrong with your machine the best course of action is to log a support ticket with elektron through the website elektron.se, or contact the dealer you received the unit from if you did not receive it direct from elektron.

You should be able to sent it back without a reason in first 14 days. This holds true for EU and only if the item was not tinkered with.

The website won’t accept my serial number that is on the bottom of the unit and the box it came in. Looks like they have serious issues with their systems and quality inspection department before shipping process. I got the foreign material out myself and all is good. I was going to buy an Octatrack but hard telling what kinda crazy material might be banging around inside of there!

You are guaranteed a rhythm machine, through the warranty. Its your own fault if you chose not to do that and run into problems down the line. It sucks that you got a malfunctioning unit, especially if you were planning on playing shows with it in the near future, but sometimes things get missed in QA. Its quite literally the reason they offer a warranty.

I don’t mean to be a dick, I just love all the elektron boxes i have and want you to know that the quality of the one you recieved is not the standard. Send an email to support or return it - you have options besides using a broken machine.

I love it now that the foreign material is out. I was afraid the loose metal screw would short something out if it happened to end up on a circuit board or something. It is an excellent rhythm machine. I just like things to be correct the first time without the consumer having to fix it himself when it arrives. I work in a local factory myself that makes Elevators and we strive to make sure everything works right before it goes out the door…every single unit. Otherwise if we make a mistake, the costumer gets it for free or some other product for their trouble so they will know our corporation cares about the satisfaction of the customer.

Turns out I seen on Facebook 8 other people had the same problem. That means the screw belongs tight in there somewhere. I don’t see where. Elektron told all of them it’s ok to open up the top panel and fix it so it’s a common issue. Maybe a little Loctite on the threads will solve the issue.
