In all honesty the mono much as I loved it is not worth anywhere near €3000
Unless it was owned and signed by Sean Booth
Likewise a 909 is not worth €5000 Unless it was owned and signed by Mantronik
But as long as people are willing to pay way above its worth , well…
I feel you here. I truly miss my MNM and MDuw, but I would never pay for what they are going for these days. I hope there would be a successor to MNM but nothing comes close to it, the MD either. They’re both very special silver boxes. Their sequencers are outdated compared to the current lineup. Maybe the op should hang on to theirs and grab a mega commander. I hear it opens the MD up significantly.
@ThayBran: I’d be happy to be in a financial position to show decency reg the pricing of my silver boxes, alas I’m not. If I were, I’d probably wouldn’t sell them in the first place but move heaven and hell to get my hands on a Midi Command, then probably use it five times, put it on a shelf to gather dust and get back to my Rytm. But your right: fairness is a fickle thing. It depends on the parties involved and the circumstances of the moment, therefore I should reiterate my initial question to “what’s the average price people are willing to pay for an MD/MM these days?”
Then again €3,000 asking price for a MM feels a bit shameless, as I only paid a third of that price and got a brand new machine, never got really friendly with it and probably will move on without a second thought the day I sell it (for whatever price I get for it).
Well, I guess the collector’s market is a weird thing… wish my dad would have bought one of these Marilyn Monroe paintings/photos(?) back in the days…
Indeed, anything remotely resembling or confusable with a pitch will be edited or removed for being completely off-topic. There is a Marketplace on Elektronauts for active participating community members. Visibility is automated based on a moderate level of engagement.
@avantronica: Thanks for the advice and thanks for merging the topic with the existing thread.
As I wrote before, I wasn’t aware of the existence of the market place and due to lack of activity I am still not able to access it. I would never have posted my question in the regular Machinedrum section, if I had known about the existence of the market place. Anyway, I am sorry if I caused any inconvenience right away with my first post on this forum.
The monomachine was never popular on its release.
Autechre Sysex and Sophie passing especially, shifted the price. Having owned a mono and md for 12 years I have nothing but praise for the machines. But respect Elecktron for not replicating
