Hello!
I wonder if it somehow possible to start playing and A4 wait and catch midi clock on the fly?
For example if I ocasionaly stopped playing of A4 while synced to the daw, how to start playing in sync again without restarting DAW playback?
Thanks in advance!
Hello,
it depends on the sync-mode of your DAW. In cubase u can decide to follow the songposition i.e.

In the global settings in the A4, go to midi sync, make sure transport recieve is off and clock recieve is on. Now, A4 will never start playing without you actually hitting the A4s play button, and it will be BPM synced.
Did like you wrote, but no luck.
Analog 4 receiving correct clock from my DAW (Ableton). Tempo LED on A4 is blinking in sync with metronome in Ableton, but when i press PLAY on A4 it start to play right away, not waiting to pick up the beat from Ableton.
And both metronomes of Ableton and A4 metronome out of sync.
silly question: did u enable live’s sync button in midi-setup (output port A4)?
What about muting tracks or using a blank pattern rather than actually stopping the elektron?
Good advice XponentOne and TheDiePie.
How about having a dedicated midi track for the A4 in ableton, turning on/off midi sends, by using key-mapping?
A midi-track in ableton can key-map the “in-auto-off” settings in the in/out section (I-O) of the track. Perhaps that would make the A4 wait for a specific 1st beat count?
Or maybe make a midi-clip-loop with a certain note or trigger of some kind on the 1st count?
Or key mapping the mute button in the midi track?
Or a combination of some kind?
I’m just throwing out suggestions here, I have not tried them myself. Personally I use the simple solution, pressing play and getting playback instantly. I love playing around with stop and play.
